ok this may be easy rerun your start up disc when it gets to the point were it ask to run wirless don't skip it this time you'll need the hard usb cord to set it up the first time this will sinc everthing together. than after that it should be ok if not than it gets a little hard you can trying trough the setup on the HP itsself just go to tools the wrinch and go to wirless setup and follow the promps and good luck. the thing with setup is we tend to click nexy witout really looking lol don't worry I do it als. my Son who works at MC main dos trouble shooting programing he says the bigges problem with computers except for dell is usaly between the keyboard and the chair. If you have a dell well I'm sorry you bought a dell if you are using a dell your problem may be that hopes this helpsI'll try to keep an eye on this running solution on your windows wont help on the wirless thing unlss its been connected once.

I have tired to log on to the internet through my default provider and cannot. I have gotten error messages that read: Sigmatel C-major msinfo32

Sigmatel c-major is your audio driver, not your internet driver. It is possible you have a corrupted driver. I would uninstall the sigmatel driver, then get the dell disc and reinstall it. I would also remove and reload my Ethernet driver, my Wireless driver and my dial up modem driver, just to be sure.

As for the internet provider, You would need to clarify how you connect: wired (ethernet, usb) wireless (wifi, router, cellular) or dial up (aol, netzero, juno on a 56k modem and phone line). Different things can cause internet failures. For example, a cordless phone can disrupt wireless connections. An infected "winsock" can knock out all your network connections, and a bad cord or a bad jack can ruin any wired connection.

Let me know how it goes, Good luck.

Can't connect to internet

there is a switch on the front or side that needs to be put to the on position, if it's anything like mine it is very small and hared to see. If you normally have a LED that tells you that the adapter is on, it's normally near that.

Dell Laptop is not pulling IP address

Connect it directly to the modem with the ethernet cable first...Windows will configure the Dell...then the wireless should work.

What operating system do you have running on the Dell? Is there a hardware/software firewall setup/installed?
