Hitachi UltraVision 42HDT51 Plasma

Can not get power on the TV to come on.  The green power light on the HD tuner is on, but not the green light on the TV; only the red light.  I have unplugged and reconnected everything; Turned the main power switch off and then on; unplugged the TV for an extended period of time; all with not success.

Tv is approximately 3.5 years old. Not sure if still under warranty.

The problem is with the power control MB
if you are experienced in electronic repairs you can purchase the board and replace it if not then I'd suggest a service center or an experienced technician
Please Take heed this tv carries high voltage capicators which can cause severe damages and death be very careful if you wish to attempt repairs your self

Here is the service manual link

    http://www.eserviceinfo.com/most_popular...

Remember to discharge all voltage as described in the manual before attempting any form of repairs or trouble shooting

The manual also contains a refrence and troubleshooting section to help you along,,

More than likely check the power control ic first contuinity testing the rest of the Main board

How long ago did you purchase the television? If it is still under warranty then you will definitely want to have it serviced that way. If not you can still go through hitachi
http://www.hitachi.us/Apps/ServiceLocator/ServiceCenterSearchForm
You can locate your local service center through that link.
Please keep me informed.
Thanks,
Lee

Is your tv still under warranty?

  • Ekse Jul 12, 2008

Overall Warranty 1 Year - this may be incorrect.

My monitors have 3 years, did you purchase a extended warranty?

check with hitachi or your dealer about the warranty it may get it repaired for free, if its still under warranty.

maybe not but its worth it to check.

Green lights on screen blank no picture no sound nothing

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

I cannot get a new samsung bluray disc player toconnect to my hit

HDMI is the current digital standard for interfaces, but component (Red, Blue, Green) still gives a good method for passing HD. The only thing you might be giving up is some control functions. Use a good quaility RGB cable if this is the route you choose.

I have a 2006 Hitachi Ultravision 42 inch plasma

plasma tv units use a lot of power ,well into the hundreds of watts 9 some big screens use up to 800 watts to work)
I suggest that you consider a new led unit which uses barely any power and you will get a remote with it

Hitachi TV 42hdt51

Might be the digital board, which on this unit you're in luck, easy to diagnose. The digital board has a group of led lights on it D302, D303, D304, D305, D306 if when you attempt to power up and of these begin flashing or changing colors it's likely digital board needs to be replaced...
If any of this sounds to foreign get a pro on this, you can mess this unit up in the blink of an eye...
