Hp pavilion 763 no video signal

Hook a spare monitor to the pc, if picture okay! there is a problem with the HP monitor. But if both show the same symptom it is the Video Graphics Card that is defective in the computer, "a thought" change the video cord from the computer to the monitor to be sure.

My hp a642n won't boot from any media. I inserted

old PC, very very old, and no mention of what media
i can thing, of many,
HDD,
SSD
CD
DVD
Floppy
BR-D
zip drives (1994 to 2003 era or more...)
USB sticks.
boot from net drive. (thin net)

I guess you meant the HDD boot tied, or HDD OS is dead from virus
so tried to boot to a CD? to fix it?
or ? I can think of vast other reasons to boot from non HDD but
why must I guess this>

What are you doing./?
or post symptoms?
best i can tell (unsupported product )
is it had VISTA when new.
my guess VISTA is SICK?

a642n instead of a6242n
is it really the one on the left here?

the a642n is obsolete and old
what is there now , who knows, it can be even upgraded extensively
or not. (looking at the guts inside tells me that , eyes on it)

HP Pavilion a642n Desktop PC (says retired, like me, LOL)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/retired-products
searching for facts , on this old PC wow, obscure is the word
it seems " 3.11 (13-Sep-2004) BIOS last release"
its, 13 years old, Id retire it. find a 2010 or newer box.
but do say what you attempt to do and what media is it.?
both type of media and CONTENT.
good day and good luck.

Hp pavilion slimline s3020n PC the computer says no analog signal the problem is all the time cant run the computer at all.i have not tried to fix the problem myself

Does the computer turn ON? (do you hear beeps?, do you see lights on the computer NOT THE MONITOR?, do you hear the fans?, etc...) it could be the monitor, try an other one, it could be the video card, swap it with a known good one ,it could be the VGA cable change it, etc... if the computer is all dead try an other electric outlet.

Good luck!

Monitor is cracked. Have hooked up a Monitor still cannot get signal. I am guessing there are some buttons on the laptop keyboard that I need to press. Can you help please?

By default, the external monitor connector is turned off. Hold down the Fn key and press F4 to enable the external monitor. If you look closely at the F4 key you'll see it has a little picture of a monitor screen on it. Full information about the other keyboard functions is here at HP.

My lap top was working fine yesterday , but when i went to turn it on today the startup said to use "run in safe mode " or others options similar to that , i chose one , & it still didn't...

Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems. 1. Start up your desktop as normal but as soon as it starts keep pressing the 'F8' key. 2. You will have a black background with white writing on and lots of options. 3. Use the up and down arrow keys and select last known good configuration, then press the enter key to select it. philswift_4.jpg
Your computer should start up. If you have a blank screen, do you hear the fans whirring and see lights on the front? If so then your computer works but is not sending s signal out to the monitor. Check all cables to make sure they are securely connected. If you still have no image. Swap your monitor for a friends one that you know works. This will test if it is your monitor that has failed. If you see an image on your friends you will need a new monitor or new monitor cable. If you do not see an image on your friends monitor and your PC has lights and fan whirring then you need to get a new graphics card. If you have no lights and no fan whirring it is outside the scope of this and we need some more information as it could be 1. Failed power supply 2. Failed memory 3. Blown motherboard 4. Failed processor
Please report back with answers to 1. Do you hear fans whirring? 2. Do you see a power light/led light up? (in example pic it is green) 3. Do you see the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) LED/light flash at all? philswift_5.jpg

Many thanks for your information
Phil

It is common problem with this model, poor/contaminated solder joints. It can cause the transistors to go out also. You must remove the old solder, clean the inductor leads real well and then resolder. I fixed close to hundred of this model. There was recalled by HP because of many failed units out there, but it is too old now.

The screen on my HP pavilion dv2736us laptop stopped working completely out of the blue, with no apparent reason. It was working fine otherwise. I came back home after work to turn it on, and it came on...

Take your laptop into dark room and see if you can see a faint desktop on the screen. I want to know if the screen is actually dark or just dim because of a dead backlight. If there is nothing faitly showing up, try shining a flashlight on it and see if you can make out the desktop then. If you can't, try to hook up an exterior monitor to see if the signal can be sent to an external monitor. You may have to hold down the Fn key + an "F" key, may be F4, to toggle between the video outputs on your laptop. If that does not work, reboot and when you hear a beep, tap F8 to try and get the computer to boot to safe mode, this will trigger the laptop to show a safe mode resolution. If this does not work, then there is the possibility that either the video circuit has died, the laptop has a serious virus that has shut down the video circuit, or the screen inverter has dies which will not allow a video signal to be processed by the screen.

Hp pavilion monitor not starting up

That will happen if the monitor isn't getting a video signal from the computer. Are you sure your computer is actually starting up properly? Are you hearing the normal Windows startup sounds? If the computer and Windows seem to be working properly, the video card or integrated video may have failed. Have you tried another monitor to verify that the computer is working?

If the monitor is in fact bad, it would be better to replace it than to try a repair. New LCD monitors are quite inexpensive and you'll gain lots of desk space.
