Question about Mitsubishi VS-50605 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Blue Screen I recently inherited a 50 inch VS-50605. The screen cover is blue and the picture is very dark. Did these TV's come with a blue screen cover? Adjusting the brightness doesn't help brighten the pictures at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No those tvs came with a black otuer screen that have rough ridges . If your screen is blue, someone may have replaced it with a dark colored plastic. You can get replacement screens at the following link, They are exspensive though.

My mitsubichi projection tv model vs-50605 is getting dark, Do i need to change the bulb

This model does not use a "bulb", it has three picture tubes.

What does happen is the lens for each can get dusty; picture will gradually get dimmer and dull looking.

With set unplugged, remove rear cover (it can be done from front but back is safer for a do it yourself person..

With the rear cover removed look for the 3 large black lens pointing up in the middle of the set--simply clean them with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it---this should usually be done once a year.

If they have not been cleaned recently or you are in a dusty environment, cleaning them should improve the picture a lot.

Let me know if you have questions.

Mitsubishi WD-62527. Dark picture.

That unit is a two mirror set. Meaning the light engine lens shines down onto a small mirror and that is reflected onto a large mirror and then onto the screen. Gravity being what it is dust and other contaminants cover the lower mirror. Moving the set would only aggrevate dust settling on it. To fix the problem the screen must be removed and the mirror cleaned. You won't believe the difference. It will be like watching a new tv.

Split screen and dark colors

Good Day, scharania;
Try all of these: 1).HORIZONTAL PULLING AND TEARING, MAY ALSO HAVE VERTICAL ROLLING OR VERTICAL BLANKING BAR LOCKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE. CHECK C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2. CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 (9-VOLT REGULATOR) ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2). CHECK C2P08 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P03 (3.2 VOLT REGULATOR) ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 3).
CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Brightness on VS-50605

The darkness shouldnt be that exspensive some trouble shooting and a few dollars should straighten that out. The screen however will cost a couple of hundred dollars, although that would still be cheap for a big screen, and that model does play exceptionall well when operating properly.

A halo effect usually means the coolant in the CRTs need replacing in the effected color usually blue goes first followed by green. red seems to be less prone for some reason.
