Blank Screen I have a philips 42 inch plasma bought less than 2 years back. A few months back i would get flashing red screen on the top half of the screen, it would come for a few seconds and then go away. After some time the top of the screen turned into red and blue snow. This would happen on all the modes- HDMI (1 and 2) and SVideo. Yesdarday the TV just died on me- The picture went blank and i am only getting sound. Can anyone help me? Can this be repaired or do i need to simply junk it?

    Thanks, but i a a novice and not an electronics guy. I can get my way around but if you can eleborate a bit more on what i sould do it will be more helpful.

Many have replaced caps on the SMPS board, with success:

2662 is a 1000μF 25v 85°C with 2663 and 2664 both 25v 100μF 25v

Once you get it on, there are adjustments to the VS voltage to cure the speckle.

Sounds like you need a lower Y-DRV/BUFFER board (996500032640) and a Y-SUS board (996500032643). Part numbers listed are for models which use a Samsung Panel.

Philips flat screen 42" flashing red light 7 times it stops for 5 seconds and 7 more flashes if i unplug and plug it a few time it will come on
my 42 inch phillips, i turn it on green light comes on for 10 sec then red light comes on and flashes 4 times then stops for 5 sec then repeats.

Tv won't come one and blinks red 7 times then stops.
When the bottom half of the picture goes out this usually indicates a failure of the lower Y driver module. When this module fails it will often take out the Y sustain module and when that happens the set goes into over current shut down. Both boards will have to be replaced. All of this is assuming you have a Plasma set and not a LCD flat panel.

every plasma tv ive come across with this symptom eneded up beeing a new panel. what i do is replace the x and y sustain boards and if that dont work youll need a new panel.
