My lg 42pg20r ta was working fine and was on overnight (KIDS!!) and in the morning the tv was turned off and then an hour later turned back on and there is no picture at all.The sound works fine but no picture at all on any channels.I unplugged it and moved it and now it also has a constant ringing as well.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. Check ur clicker like tries new set of batteries.Check the power source like the power outlet?Yes,tries tv unplug,replug the tv power a/c cord plug back like about an hour later for the tv to do resetting it seft back to the factory setting.The tv now should work again.If still have the same problems,tv have problems,new tv bought it under a year old.Call LG take ur tv warrenty repair.

Is your location prone to power surges or failures? Try plugging your TV into an uninteruptable power supply (UPS) (battery backup and line voltage conditioning). If that doesn't help, I would be suspect the unit has a problem with the internal memory.

sounds like it could be a cabling issue, try replacing the cabling (if you have another tv, you can borrow the cabling before purchasing new set of cabling)

sounds like when you moved it you created an air lock, when moving fridges etc. should always leave for 24 hrs to settle before plugging in.... , no guarantee but try laying it down and leaving overnight then stand it up again and leave for at least 24 hrs for the refrigerant to try and sort itself out. UNPLUGGED from mains of course... good luck

It's probably a cracked solder joint in the power supply / horizonal drive stages. As the unit heats up the joint is seperating and breaking connection. It could also be a component failing when it gets hot. Usually the voltage regulator or Horizonal Output Transistor (both mount to heat sinks).

If you know how to solder and want to tinker, unplug the set for a couple days (to let the power capacitors discharge) and resolder and crystalized it cracked joints on the board(s) where the power stages, and flyback transformer are located.

If you decide to operate the set with the back off, please be careful. The high voltage on a TV can be 30,000+ volts.

Sounds like something may be shorted out inside keeping the power supply loaded enough it wont start, dont recommend trying to fix unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing, there are some high voltages inside, I wold Call a TV tech out to repair, Just FYI, these sets from Phillips/MAG usually have CRT fluid getting cloudy causing discoloration/fog to pix around this age and older, between both repairs, some sets start around $1000, just an idea.
