How do i set up my hp officejet 6210 all-in-one with fax

I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I NEEDED A DEDICATED LINE FOR THE FAX MACHINE.. ALSO IN THE OWNERS MANUEL ON PAGE 77 -79 IT GOES INTO DETAIL AT THE VARIOUS SETTINGS TO HAVE THE FAX ANSWER

HP Officejet 6210 All-in-One is not tested on VOIP connections when it was in manufactured. However these printers do work with VOIP connection.


If you are unable to get the printer working on VOIP connection, there are few ways to fix this.

1. Reduce the Fax speed of printer ( from Setup - Basic Fax Settings - Fax Speed ). Try to Fax
If this does not work, try the step below

2. VOIP is Digital technology and HP 6210 works on Analog Signals ( standard telephone line )
- You need a DSL Filter which converts the Digital Signals to Analog and vice versa. This filter is available at any departmental store or computer accessory shop

- Connect the DSL Filter to phone socket. Connect the printer telephone cable to Analog port of DSL Filter ( to Line 1 Extn port of printer )

Either of this should fix the solution. However there is another solution which may or may not be possible. It is to reduce the baud rate on your Cable connection ( though not recommended )

You might need to step thru the fax settings and turn off the error correction mode, or ECM. It tends to cause this kind of error

You will need to do this on the caroll panel tell you get to fax set up then slect confromasion or what ever it will say the slect what type ofconfromsion you wnt for future faxes and say ok.

The fax machine needs to hear a dial tone first to send a fax. If you have no fax number, what working phone number are you using?

My HP Officejet 6210 stopped copying of faxing since yesterday, 10/14/08. I need help urgently !!!!

follow the ff. steps:

1. press set-up
2. press 4 and then press 6 (this selects BASIC FAX SET-UP and then RING,BEEP and VOLUME)
3. press right arrow key to select one of the options:SOFT,LOUD and OFF (NOTE: if you are going to select OFF no will not hear dial tone,fax tone and incoming ring tones)
4. press OK....

just remove old driver from ADD REMOVE PROGRAMME AND THEN RE INSTALL YOUR PRINTER DRIVER AGAIN.
