Question about Apple iPod MA446LL/A MP3 Player
I have an iPod Video 5g that has the lock icon displayed and the hold switch has no effect on it whatsoever. I have 3 of these. I swapped the back from a working one and same problem. The problem seems to be on the logic board but I can't seem to locate the problem. I talked with Apple and they said it needed to be unlocked at the logic board. Anyone know exactly how that is accomplished?
I hit it hard on a table on the corner adjacent to the hold switch and it fixed. Keep in mind though my Ipod already has problems but I know its the logic board. I know how to fix these things but I was just fed up so I beat it on a table. You might try that.

I had this same problem and tried everything posted on the internet to get it working. Nothing was working...
I had the harddrive replaced at some point but some internet ipod drive saver guys. Got it back working fine. Then my battery wouldn't stay charged very long, so I bought a replacement and swapped it myself. Worked fine initially but shortly after got the lock icon in the top left, regardless of the HOLD switch position.
After trying everything else, I opened the case again, and moved the switch on and off using the exposed connector on the inside rather than by the external part of the switch. While doing that, I instantly saw the screen light up on the table it was laying on. I turned it over and the lock was gone! So apparently, there must have been some issue with the HOLD switch that by moving from the inside was able to fix.

Turn on the hold swich and turn it off, then press the Play/Pause button and the center button at the same time until it resets. This may fix your problem.

Tips for a great answer:
Hi, What generation of iPod do you have? If you have 1G to 3G, you have no camera, on 4G you have one at the front and one at the back on the 5G, 64Go and 32Go versions have cameras on both sides and the 16Go iPod Touch 5G, there is only a camera at the front and none at the back. You could also try restoring from iTunes and see what happens.

Connect your 5th Generation iPod Nano to your computer with your iPod cord.
locate your iPod in My Computer(Windows) or the Finder(OSX)
Open the Folder titled DCIM then open the folder titled 000Apple.
open the folder titled 000Apple.
The files ending in .mp4 are your videos. copy and
and paste or drag and drop these files to a folder on your computer.
Thats it! you can now edit and share your iPod videos with your Friends!
The rest of this step is just filler because eHow will not let me publish this article unless it has a certain amount of words in it. So i figured i would just write this long redundant paragraph at the end to satisfy the crazy supercomputer that runs this site instead of making my steps unnecessarily complicated and confusing you guys..
