Called and spoke with tech who knew nothing about my inability to use printer and then lost connection with me. My printer does not work. Says "connection lost". Can you help?

a. What make and model your printer is.
b. What type of connection to the printer exists (USB?)

Kohler Generator has a noEc error code


My 11 month old Kohler 14RESL stopped working sometime this month. The GFI outlet to the trickle battery charger tripped and the battery charger went dead and so did the battery. When I realized the GFI had tripped, I reset it and the trickle battery charger started recharging the battery overnight. In the morning I tried to start the generator by pushing the run button - nothing happened except a message 'noEc' appeared on the status screen. I called Kohler and was referred to their local distributors. After a whole day of phone calls to many distributors, I finally found one, Kraft Power, who would come out on an overtime basis and fix the problem. I chose Kraft Power because they were the only company who knew what 'noEc' meant. They told me that since the generator had lost all power (no trickle battery charger), the engine had lost it's configuration! I have worked in the technical field for 25 years (computers, networks and remote diagnosis) so this answer was particularly troubling. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. The technician had to connect to the port on the controller, bring up Site Tech on his laptop, and enter two pieces of of information into the configuration. 1) 14RESL and 2) the engine type. We had to use a mirror to read the engine type as it was under the oil filter!

Brother MFC 6800 won't send scan results to iMac. The scan function appears to work, although nothing appears when using iPhoto or Picass for Mac. I am using Mac OX 10.6.5

I had the same problem. I knew the scan function was not broken because I could use it with my old PowerMacG4. But no go with the new Intel iMac, and no amount of driver updating or other OS fiddling solved anything.
I luckily found another MFC-6800 to test. And to my surprise scanning is working, and printing is much improved (no more "offline printer" when it's clearly online). The difference between the two: firmware version. My MFC is dated from 2001, while the other one is from 2004. For the date see the label behind the machine.
Now, why does scanning work on my old PowerMac G4? Apple probably changed something in the Intel drivers or the USB circuitry, or Brother didn't adhere to proper standards in 2001. Or it may be as stupid as an inability of the older Brother board/firmware to deal with USB 2 levels, even throttled down to USB 1.1. Who knows? Anyway I'm in contact with Brother and hope to get a way to upgrade the firmware in my printer.
Did you try scanning with Graphic Converter? Some Adobe products need updates to properly scan in Snow Leopard.

it sounds like confliting problems if you dont mind looseing date boot into safe mode if that dont work it sounds like a problem with the drive reader in that case sony customer support should tell you how to get it repaired

Inability to online printer


Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

MP600 paper jam but no paper in printer


reset the printer completely, unplug the machine, unplug the connections. Then reinstall the drivers for it on the computer. 

Reinitialize the printer and print a test page. If it says there is a jam still, look on the in side roller roter. Sometimes paper jams are as little as a small piece of ripped off paper stuck in the roller roter (the sides of the roller that guides the paper in to the printer.) 

If there is nothing cleaning the heads of the printer is the next step. Using rubbing alcohol and a clean qtip rub the heads and let them air dry.

If these don't work then the controller card for the printer is damaged and is inable to read the printer properly and its time to get a new machine.

I suggest a personal laserprinter, they are around 60 dollars now and will last you four or five years with out any new cartridges.

Lost access to printer. Did uninstall and reinstall but nothing will print. I had to bypass the connect to printer step to finish the install even though the printer was on and the USB cable connected. How...


I telephoned the 0800 441 147 HP help phone number and spoke with 'Boogie'. He spent a considerable amount of time talking me through another uninstall and reinstall and other suggestions without fixing the problem. He suggested that I buy a new USB cable which I did.The reinstall then completed plus the driver reinstallation and my printer is now operational again. Boogie's patience and assistance was very much appreciated by me as a very non technical person!

A question, the $ amount quoted for registering for assistance - is this $NZ and for what period, ? annually or?

If this is the power problem then change your SMPS with more Wats power.

error 48: headflatcable needs check at mainboard side and/or carriage side.

Open mfc and check connection of cable on bothe sides.

Epson C84 inkjet


This typically is not an issue with re-fill cartridges, but it could be. At this point, if you have replaced the cartridges, ran cleaning cycles AND called Epson, that's all you can do. I would advise just replacing the unit as it's too expensive to fix.
