Question about Dell Inspiron 5160 Notebook
When i put battery in and try and turn on laptop i get the an orange blinking battery light. Flashes total of 9 times but in intervals of 3. This happens with the battery and the ac adaptor plugged in or without the battery and just the ac adaptor.I have plugged ac adaptor in several outlets and green light comes up showing is got power but when plug it into laptop doesn't charge battery or turn laptop on without battery. Is it something that can be fixed?
The blinking orange battery light generally indicates that the battery isn't working properly, usually going out and not charging properly. In this case, since the adapter will not power the machine without the battery, and it should, I'm going to say that the adapter is going out and not getting the proper amount of power to the system. Try replacing the adapter. Be sure to replace it with a Dell replacement, the Targus brand universal adapters do not work well with Dell machines, and in most cases won't work at all.
