probably not - but I can't find where to download a driver for it - the website you provided is Windows 7 compatibility, I don't find a driver download from the Canon website

  • Michael Maiden Jan 08, 2011

probably not - the link you provide is the Windows compatibility page - I need the driver, but I don't find it on the Canon website when I browse by this product name

I've added additional comments, but I can't see them after hitting the submit button and I don't see another response, what am I doing wrong in this process?

I've added comments but am not getting any response - what am I doing wrong? I also can't see the comments I have added. Is that right? Seems confusing to me as a user/consumer.

You are not telling me anything I haven’t already tried. I have been to the urls previously you all have given me in the 2 solutions offered.
The Canon website lists no drivers needed for Windows 7 for this device.

The MMC templates are a bunch of .jpg files.
I’ve already downloaded and tried to use the Zoom Browser EX software.
The camera is not recognized when I connect it to my PC. I try to follow their directions, but nothing seems to enable me to connect to the camera.
If you all cannot offer me something different than what I have tried, I want my $12 back.

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (also called DV or IEEE 1394) connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection (if they have one) for stills and can only download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file.

According to the manual, you need to use Firewire to transfer video from this camera. There is a section marked for the Optura 60 only about using a USB connection for this purpose. If you don't have a manual, one can be downloaded from THIS LINK You can also find other information and software for download at this Canon website, including an updated version (v6.5) of zoom browser for Windows 7/64.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My camera came with the correct lead.

remove and download and reinstall this software -driver ...for windows 7 on 64 .remember to install teh software without the camera conected ..and after that restart ..connect the camera and be sure it is powered and on and in the play-back mode..If on its screen an action is required ..choose pc connection ..

This is the manual for all these..and it is pretty well explained..
If the usb seam not to communicate it may need an usb driver and see if ti is on the disk (browse the disk if you have it ) ...or just use the firewire cable instead..

On this site you have the downloads for windows 7 on 64 , I double checked..but I could not download it for you cause I need a product serial number and I dont have one ..
Just select drivers and software ..and in the small case under select the operation system ...windows & and vista on 64 ..and download the first one ..called..ZoomBrowser EX 6.6.0b Application ..
This is the one that should work for you ..Just pay attention on the page ..when you click download on the page ..the agreement appear ..and also you have to provide the device serial number to be able to download..

How do I connect my DELL Inspiron 3521 laptop to the HP Photosmart D110 Printer? The laptop is not recognizing the Printer. Whenever we try to download printer software, it says "System Driver cannot...

First of all, what is your Operating System? XP? Windows 7? Windows 8? Are you connecting via Wireless or USB? Is your system 32-bit or 64-bit? If connecting via USB, try different USB ports on the laptop and a different USB cord just to be sure. If you can get into your laptops Device Manager you can go under Action and tell it to scan for hardware changes while the printer is attached to the laptop. Windows 7 & 8 usually have decent Plug and Play features and may pick up the driver.
Are you getting the driver from HP directly? If so, make sure you are matching the Operating system exactly (ex. Windows 8 64-bit/Windows 7 32-bit). You can discover your system type by right clicking on the Computer icon and going to properties. You may also want to try an HP Universal PCL 6 driver if the driver for the actual printer will not download. Save the driver to the desktop or a designated file within the C drive in case your temp folder is corrupt and run it from the local save.
There could be other issues, such as a 3rd party firewall blocking the driver or the Anti-Virus could be an issue as well.
I hope this helps!

I cannot connect the camera to the PC to download video from a tape in the camera. I have been to Windows websites, Canon websites, there are supposedly no drivers to download, the Canon Zoom Browser EX...

I can't see the other solutions you mention.

This camera requires a Firewire (DV or IEEE1394) connection to download videos from tape. That is all there is to it. Some mini-DV cameras will download by USB cable, but this one is not one of them. The USB connection is only usable to download stills from a memory card in the camera in this model.

The same is true of cameras made by other companies such as Sony and Samsung. Some models will download over USB cables but other will only work over Firewire.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Camera direct to computer connections are notoriously problematic. (Lousy with bugs etc.) I avoid the problem entirely by using a card reader ($15-20) combined with Picasa3 (free software from Google). Remove card from camera and insert into card reader, connect to computer via USB and download images with Picasa3. Works great and is relatively cheap.

Help with my Zoom camera. ASAP

there are several possibilities here: 1. another program that was installed or used got the settings all mixed up. reinstall the camera's drivers. 2. if camera is connected via a serial cable (COM), check for serial-code conflicts. 3. if you are using a firewire cable, turn both computer and camera on, and then connect them. do not turn off the camera while cable is still attached.

Transfer Problem

I just went through exactly what you are describing and my solution was to install a Firewire card. The DV cable transfers my video's from the camera's cassette to my PC with no breakdown in quality. I'm very happy with this. The USB only works with the memory card, (quality is lost) Got my Firewire card on Ebay cheap, and it came with the cable and the software.
