In case the glass and the camera mirrors are clean, please check the front lamp if the the small slot in the lamp sit in the correct position. You can install the lamp in two positions. One position is OK, the other is wrong. Please check the pictures at the lamp holder with your lamp.

Now an tricky error source:
If the front page camera cabel is broken you get an error message like "front lamp alarm".
The best way to check the camera cable is to test every of the 40 wires with a electric tester. You have to unplug the connector from the camera and on the back side from the junction PCA and then check every wire if there isn't an interrupt.
That's it.

Sounds then like a loose camera cable , dirty glass, or white background plate.

There is a fujitsu service program available from Fujitsu called FCPA Twain Scantool. Not sure where you can download it from. If you start it up and connect with the scanner, it sometimes will reset the error in the firmware just by connecting (got me through that problem one time.)

Try removing the main Rom board in the back and reseating the board. Edge connectors on the board may not be making a good connection.

The Rom board is the big circuit board that can be removed from the rear of the scanner. I think there are about three screws that secure the plate that surrounds the output jacks. With the screws out, the whole rom board comes out like a sliding tray. The fuses are round and brown in color. BUT warning! Don't mix them up because they are of different values. If you try swapping them around, you will put the wrong value in another slot and it will blow! If your lamps are lit, then the fuses are ok, but try pulling the circuit board tray out and reseating the tray.

If the lamps are lit, then the fuse and lamp inverter is ok. If you swapped the cameras, and the problem still says its the front lamp, make sure that the lamp is turned around to its proper position. The lamps are masked with a clear opening. If that opening is not turned to shine the light at the right position, you could be getting the alarm because of the loss of light.

If the problem shifted to the rear lamp alarm when you switched the cameras, then the camera mirrors are real dirty inside or its just a bad camera.

If the front lamp is correctly installed (take a look at the lamp carrier pictures) and all 8 possibilities from zone48 are OK,
then you have to check the cables.

At the front camera right side you see one wide black connector for the CCD data transfer cable and one grey plug for power.
Inside the CCD cable there are 40 coloured wires.

Power plug test:
Use a voltage meter to check the power. In some cases the soldering points at the PCA are broken or the plug pins are burnt.

CCD cable test:
Disconnect the CCD connector at the camera.
Disconnect the CCD connector at the scanner's backside at the junction board.
Screw off the metal cable clamps.
But the two connectors side by side.
Now use a resistor tester and measure from connector contact number 1 to contact number 1 at the other connector if there is a linkage. Then do the same with contacts number 2 and so on.
A lot of work but a must.
By a broken wire you will get no linkage.

In case you found broken wires you need a new cable.
Fujitsu part number: CA04315-F851
Fujitsu part name: CCD Cable

Good luck!

They are getting a warning on the light bulb\r\nSense Key=0x4 ASC=0x680 DDES=0x7E

Hi Dana,

The error you are receiving is Flatbed Optical Alarm. This alarm occurs when the READ command for the first document is received, or when gain of the CCD amplifier is adjusted (sheet guide is read) during scanning.Probable causes are:
- The lamp, optical system or white sheet guide is dirty
- Defective lamp, heater, CCD, or inverter
- Connector disconnected
  1. Does the same symptom occur after turning OFF and ON the scanner? Check the scanner.
  2. Is the White sheet guide (glass) in the FB cover dirty? Remove the FB cover and clean the White sheet guide (glass).
  3. Is the Optical unit dirty? Are cables damaged? Are the connectors connected properly?Check all.
  4. Do the Lamps FB light up?Are cables damaged? Are the connectors connected properly? Check if the lamps light up during the Paper feeding test.If not, the error is caused by the defective Lamp FB or Inverter.
Hope the above information is helpful.

Thanks & regards,

How do you replace the feed roller on a fujitsu 4097 scanner

Hi Ranji,
Thank you for contacting Fixya.
The life span of the Pick roller is about 200,000 sheets or one year. Use Abrasion counter on the operator panel to estimate when the Pick rollers need replacement. The life span may be decreased by as much as half when carbonless sheets are frequently read. To replace Pick Rollers, please follow the steps provided below:
a. Remove Guide AASY. b. To remove the Pick rollers, turn the stopper counterclockwise. c. To remove the Pick roller 1, move the Pick roller 1 toward the left then lift it. d. Right after removing the Pick roller 1, remove the Pick roller 2 with the same way. e. To attach the new Pick rollers, place the Pick roller 1 from right above the groove for the Pick roller 1. Put the shaft of the Pick roller 1 into the groove. Then, slide the Pick roller 1 toward the right side. A Pick roller 1 has the groove in its rubber. Make sure that the bushing is securely fixed to the grooves. f. Attach the Pick roller 2, then slide the Pick roller 2 to the right. Make sure that the bushing is securely fixed to the grooves. g. Turn the stopper clockwise to secure the Pick rollers.
Hope the above information is helpful.
regards,
TechSatya

When the scanner scans the first image it will bring in via a set of solenoids a background white Reference metal flap for both rear and front cameras.
The above error comes about when the solenoids are sticking or they have magnetised themselves.
1.Clean the Solenoids.
if scanner still errors .
2. Replace solenoids.

What resolution are you at? When scanner manufacturers rate their scanner at a given speed, it is usually :
1. at 200dpi or lower
2. landscape mode
3. plenty of ram on the pc
4. most image enhancements turned off.

If you are running at 300dpi, you scanner will slow down considerably. You can set this is your software, but also check thru the front panel.

You probably won't get 90 ppm in reality, just as you usually won't get the gas mileage posted on the new car sheet ! But you should get at least 70ppm.
Check your operator's manual to access the front panel menu.

First, you didn't say whether the Front lamps are actually lit. I know that it is difficult to tell on this model unless you cheat the lamp interlock switch and fire up the unit into scan mode.
Front Lamps errors can also be generated by a loose front camera cable. There are no dedicated lamp detectors. The 4099 uses the camera's ccd's to detect if the lamps are burning. It is also possible, but less likely , that the lamp fuse on the main board (slides out from rear) is blown. (Fuse part number CA53004-0227).
From previous experience, there is probably a 95% chance that the issue if coming from a loose front camera cable. Not the kind of thing to get in and check unless you are service savy. I have had several calls that drove me nuts with this issue until I reseated that cable onto the camera.

The Fujitsu service manual list these possibilties :

a. Do the Front side lamps lite up when you attempt to scan?
b. Is the lamps correctly seated?
c. If the lamps don't light up, possible lamp inverter problem or fuse problem.
d. Is the glass surface and white sheet guide clean?
e. Are the connectors at the front camera ccd loose?
f. Is the power supply output normal?
g. Possible front camera failure.
h. Possible connections from camera to the Rom board problem.
