You don't need the CD, download a and install tunes from apple and register your ipod with the program. Be careful not to sync your ipod unless you have loaded all your media into itunes or you will wipe the media from your ipod
itunes is downloaded and installed on your computer. not onto you ipod. once itunes is installed on your computer, open the program and connect your ipod to the computer via usb cable. It will mount to itunes and then just learn how to use it and load your music.

Hey :), id be happy to help. First before you begin you must install Itunes on your Mac or Pc, To do this you must go to this link to get the installer for Itunes
http://www.apple.com/itunes/overview/ Ok, once you have installed Itunes on your computer ( and its up and running ), you must now plug in you Ipod to your computer ( with the usb cord that came with your Ipod ). Now once you have your Ipod plugged in and you have Itunes opened , your Ipod will show up in the sidebar of Itunes and a window will pop up asking for info like, what would you like to call your Ipodand etc. . Now after its done with setting up your Ipod, Itunes will automatically sync ( send ) the music/videos and etc, you have in your Itunes library to your Ipod. The syncing process will occurevery time you plug your ipod into your computer. Oh and to add music to your library through CD'sjust stick a CD inside your computer and open Itunes and the CD with show up in the side barand on the side of the screen select rip ( ripping a CD will send the songs to your Itunes library ). Thanks! and I really hope this helps, and Id appreciate it if you rated my solution
If nobody has figured out this problem or if anybody else is having the same problem I have a solution that could possibly work. I had the same problem so I right clicked My Computer and went to Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, and then click on Device Manager. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers look for anything that may have a yellow exclamation point. Mine said something like Apple Ipod Driver or something along those lines. Right click that and click Update Driver... Then click Next and it should update it for you and work fine. Hopefully this will help anybody that is having this problem.
