New lexmark X5495 is identified by PC via USB port but wont print, giving message "can't communicate with printer". any ideas?

    I have tried a different cable. manually removed Lexmark from the registry, and all lexmark files I could Identify, tried to reinstall. tried it on another computer and it worked fine on another computer.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if usb-connected), reboot your computer and unplug/replug your printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect the printer into the computer. Try to print again.

My lexmark 5300 all in one gives me a "web gateway encountered a problem..." message and the printer's functions will not work.


Does your printer print when you try to make a copy using the Copy button on the printer operator panel? If yes, then it could be a printer driver problem. Try to re-install the printer driver on your computer. You can download the Lexmark X5495 driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/gKXn7F. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After the installation is successful, try to print again.

When i try to print something a window pops up that says "communication not available" ive tried restarting, unpluging the power cord and the usb cord...nothing seems to work

My Lexmark x5495 will not print. I get the message enable bidirectional communication. I am running XP operating system. What is the solution?


Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > right click on the Lexmark 5400 Series print object > Properties > Lexmark 5400 Series Properties window pops up, click on Ports tab > place a check mark in Enable bidirectional support by clicking in the box beside it. Hit Apply and click Ok to save the settings. Try to print. If problem persists, disconnect the printer usb cable from computer, uninstall the software completely by clicking on Windows logo Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 5400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. To reinstalI, I recommend you use the software you can download from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/cgn74X. Download and install the software. I just put new ink Cartridges but still wont print


Hello,

Most of the time the "problem communicating with the printer" message pops up on Lexmark X1185 series when the driver gets corrupted. The best fix for this issue would be to uninstall the software first. Try connecting the USB to a different USB port (Please avoid using USB hubs, if any) and then reinstall the software. This should normally fix the printer communication issues!

Lexmark Printer Install - No Communication Error


With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

is the printer in its own USB port? Some printers that "talk back" to the PC do not like to share a port so do not have it on a USB HUB.

1st -make sure that the USB cable is connected on the correct port of your printer - you might be plugging it on the ports of the telephone - you got 3 ports there - 2 for the telephone ports and 1 for the USB

2nd- check your service if print spooler and lx devices are started (lexbce or lxdcu) - if not.... start it
>start >run>type services.msc > enter

3rd- if still no go - uninstall your driver and download windows vista x64 printer driver on their website
