Your description was a little hard to understand, does the carrier not go left og center or does it just start printing at the center?

If it goes left but dosen't start printing till the center check to see if the platen (roller) is fully seated in the side frames.

If it stopps in the center reset the L. margin.

Type is faded and old looking even with new ribbon.

Put in a multi part form, if the carbons print well then try a fresh ribbon,. not one that has been sitting around for a long time. If it is bad check for debris around the print hammer, If its clean either the print solenoid is gummy or the solenoid cap is broken.

Try a little light oil on the printer shaft. WD40 works well.

There are many things that will cause squeeking. First does it make noise when you tab or return if so open the cover and see if it goes away if so the red indicator may be rubbing on the margin scale, bend it back a bit. If it only squeeks when typing try a little WD40 on the motor that drives the print wheel the back bearing is a little hard to grt at.

Not correcting. Be sure you have a correctable ribbon on it(yellow og orange knob)

Hope this helps

Only typing half letters and numbers

On the WheelWriter series, sometimes the platen may pop out of position, causing only half the letters to print. If this is the case, easially solved... Using the left and right platen knobs, firmly push down to lock it back in place. Hope this helps....MediaMan
