Using your CD use your Recovery Console and do a fixmbr (fix master boot record).

Use your CD for XP, start up, select "R" for repair then select "C" for Recovery Console.. follow instructions and enter password... if no password leave blank and press enter, now type the following ..... fixmbr ..... type "y" to begin and once its done you should be able to start up normally.....

Error message stop 0x00000024

which operating system ?

If you get the Windows blue screen, you can determine which stop code you have and determine what you need to do in order to get your computer back to working correctly.

First, make sure that you have this error code - Stop 0x00000024 or NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM. This message shows that a problem occurred within Ntfs.sys, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. One possible problem is a malfunctioning SCSI and Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) hardware or drivers. This can also adversely affect the system's ability to read and write to disk, causing errors. If the computer is using a SCSI hard drive, check both for cabling and termination problems between the SCSI controller and the disks. You will need to periodically check the Event Viewer for error messages related to SCSI or FASTFAT in the System log. You can also use Autochk in the Application log. Try the following. First, Double-click My Computer, select the hard disk you want to check. Then, on the File menu, click Properties. Then, click the Tools tab. Next, in the Error-checking box, click Check Now.
Finally, in Check disk options, select the scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box. You can also select the Automatically fix file system errors check box.

I'm not having a problem with my tv or the receiver, but there's a blue like that comes on every now and then on the receiver and I don't know what it means? Any ideas?

life_on_stan,

Our Duo receivers do have a blue light which represents the TV2. When that light is on the TV2 is no longer on a screen saver.

I would need more information on your equipment to provide further assistance.

Blue screen of death usually occurs when there is incompatibility with newly installed program or hardware.. So if you do install something, you may try to uninstall it or remove it on your computer..

STOP 0x00000024, 0X0000024, 0X24 or NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM = this stop error means that your NTFS file system is corrupt and this is practically impossible to fix - absolutely everything on your hard disk is trashed. The only reliable way to fix that is to reinstall Windows.

If you don't have a floppy then you can use
http://partitionlogic.org.uk/   to try to fix the partition.
If you want to recover your files before messing with the failed partition then just boot from a Linux Live-CD and move your files on a USB stick.

Blue screen with error codes

That is probably a disk error, related to the NTFS file system.
Did you try a "chkdsk /f" command to check and fix the disk?

Microsoft has more information on it in the knowledge base.

For further blue screen error troubleshooting check this article.

Won't boot

Here is the cause, and I think you will have to re-install the operating system. Not knowing your machine model number, I have no idea if the operating system recovery is imbedded in the hard drive or not.

If you receive a blue Dell line across the top of the screen during power up, press F11 to see if you can get into the recovery mode. If so, just follow the instructions.
