Question about Achiever CCS5000 Shredder

1 Answer

Squeaking I bought a used CCS500. It works really great, but makes a horrible, loud, high pitched squeal most of the time. It started infrequently, but now is most of the time. What causes that and how can we fix it?

When trying to shred, there is a loud noise, squeak, like the blades are dry, but I don't know how to open it and lubricate them.

My shredder only cuts the bottom tip of the sheet and makes a high pitched sound. The company website says in its troubleshooting section that the gears may be stripped or worn out. Does anyone know how...

Personally I would upgrade and would buy cross cut for better results and to prevent from this happening to the new unit regularly lubricate the feed opening. To replace gears isn't difficult. The tricky part is finding the right replacement. Best of luck

Why is my ID Armor ID-XC200D making a horrible noise when I shred?

That "horrible noise" is probably caused by the shredder gears meshing improperly. If you disassemble it again and look carefully at the gears, you will most likely see that some are not mating properly... Usually the motor gear and the first idler gear that meshes with the motor gear. If those two gears seem to be separated a bit, or slightly mis-aligned look carefully at where the motor mounts, and you may see that the plastic "bed" where the motor is mounted has melted from heat from the motor. This is caused by using the shredder too long without letting the motor cool down. You may be able to shim the motor housing to realign the gears, if you have the patience!

Yesterday when i was using it it started to make a really loud noise. reverse makes the normal noise but on auto it sounds bad. i cleaned out the inside but there is still paper stuck that i cant pull out....

It will not hurt to pour some lightweight shredder oil onto the cutting shafts....depending on how much you use the machine this should almost be part of a regular operation... I normally suggest to customers to pour the shredder oil onto a sheet of paper in an "S" pattern and then shred the sheet of paper....also shredders will work more reliably if you only shred about 70% of the rated capacity...less strain on the motor and parts and this results in fewer jams and longer machine life.

When I turn the shredder on, there's a high-pitched whirring sound that's almost unbearable. There is no "pull" into the machine, and it turns itself off after a few seconds. Any idea what's up?

The high pitched sound may just be the motor running without driving any will have to take the top cover off (after you have unplugged the machine)...check and see if you have broken any of the plastic gears/ Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts help.......BIG SECRET....don't put so many sheets in at a time.!!!!

Sheadder noise

All shredders need special shredder oil applied to the gears at least once a month. Oil is a very sticky silicone. Office supply stores sell it...
