Question about HP LaserJet 4700 Printer

Generic Flash Memory for HP LaserJet 4700dn

Have a HP LaserJet 4700dn. Interested in adding more Flash Memory. The formatter board can accommodate 2 additional Flash Memory add ins. So far, the only leads I can find are for HP/Compaq brand at several hundred dollars a piece. Want generic flavor at much less cost. Any ideas on how to obtain cross reference information, that will identify generic non HP brand that will work ? Having run out of ideas. Have also emailed to several leading memory suppliers/makers, but this question must be outside their scope as all do not respond.

Have copied what is printed on the sticker of the flash memory module that is installed in the printer currently.

Remove any accessories (font cartridges, memory PCA's, SIMMs, etc.) plugged into the formatter card and try again. DIMM may need replacing or a flash update. On flash-memory-based products, you can update the firmware code by downloading the latest flash executable file for the product and running the program according to the readme instructions posted with the update file. If the firmware should become corrupted or fail (usually because of an interruption when attempting to update the firmware), the product will no longer function. In this case, a firmware recovery DIMM is available.

HP Laserjet 4345mfp after memory count finishes control panel goes blank(display is working but all black) nothing else happens. I've already replaced formatter, dc controller and engine power supply,...

I'd be willing to bet that when you changed out the formatter, you used the silver square looking flash dimm from the old board and put it on the new board, If you replace the flash dimm I think your problem will indeed go away... 8mb Flash Dimm

HP Color Laserjet M5035 get`s error 30.01.34

First, this model is not color laserjet, only black.
HP LaserJet M5035 MFP
30.1.34 Cable error or loss of communication with the formatter.
1. Turn the device off and then turn the device on.
2. Make sure that the ribbon cable between the scanner control board and the formatter is not damaged and is correctly seated.
3. Make sure that the hard disk drive on the formatter is connected correctly and that the hard disk is functioning correctly.
4. If the message persists, replace the scanner control board or replace the formatter.

Hp laserjet P3005n gives memory test error when powereds

I am assuming that the printer is giving a supplies memory test error in which case it is a faulty micro chip on the toner cartridge. If this is the case then you need to replace the toner cartridge.

If the printer is not displaying supplies memory error, but actual memory test error then the problem is in the memory on the Formatter Board. The formatter board in these printers are prone to faults.
If your board has an added memory stick, I suggest that you remove it after turning off the printer and then power on again and see if the error is still displayed.

Problema con impresor hp laserjet p3005, da mensaje "MEM TEST FAILURE REPLACE DIMM 0", y cuesta que en el panel de control aparezca preparado.

Hello, this error related to the additional memory installed into the printer. It could be just the memory or the Formatter board itself. The memory can can be removed quite simply.
1) Turn the power off to the printer.
2) Slide the right side cover off, moving it towards the back.
3) Remove the memory DIMM from the formatter board.
4) Turn the power to the printer back on.

Does the printer come "READY"? If yes, then the memory is bad, If NO then the formatter is bad and will need to be replaced.

I am getting page to complex to print for documents that were printing previously

After using this printer for two years with high speed USB turned on, I began getting the same error message. It is not a memory issue.

The solution was to get into the machine menu and turn off high speed USB. I can only assume that HP broke something with a firmware update.

How to turn off High Speed USB.

Push the Menu button on the printer. Scroll over to the "Service" menu. Push "Enter". Scroll to High Speed USB, push "enter". Turn High Speed USB "OFF". It fixes it but makes everything sloooow.

HP no longer manufactures or supports this machine and I have been unable to get Windows 7 software other than the generic universal driver.

This will be my last HP. It has been a good machine but HP software sucks!

I have a HP CLJ 4700dn printer which keeps on giving 49.2FCC

That error is a firmware error, you might try again to download and install the update, or try a new memory stick if you have additional memory installed.

Initialization flash simm memory on LJ4+

You don't have to initialize the extra memory on that printer. Just install it and when you power on the printer it will recognize the extra memory. If you mean install, then go to www.HP.com and look at the instruction manual in the support section. I believe you have to extract the formatter board from the rear and then you should see the place where the chips should go.

Hp 2420 displays 53.07

The 53.07 error relates to Memory. Turn the printer off. Remove the right side cover. Remove any and all DIMM (memory) cards and printer/network cables from the formater board. The memory DIMMS are located behind the metal cover. Remove any Jetdirect Cards installed into the EIO slot on the back of the formatter.

With all accessories removed power up the printer and see of it comes to ready. If not, you need a formatter board. If it does come to ready, power it off and plug one peice that you removed back in and try again. Keep adding one at a time and powering up again until the error returns. When you get the error, the last added back onto the machine is the problem.

Here's a copy of the service manual to help with disassembly, troubleshooting and part numbers for ordering.
