Display driver r300

when i use my media player 11, i will watch a video and the screen will stop but the sound keeps on, then at the bottom there is an error message......display driver r300 has stopped responding and has recovered, how do i fix this
My Dell laptop won't come on half the time and when it does it has the R300 device driver stopped working but has recovered. That's the only time I get the message but sometimes I have to restart 3 or 4 times. How can I fix it?
