That drive should not need a driver for XP. The driver is for 98se only. XP will automatically install a generic driver and allow access to the drive.

Should the drive not come up automatically in XP, check to see if you have a bad usb port (by plugging in to another) and if this fails check with the vendor, as you may have a defective unit.

right clicking on "MY COMPUTER" and selecting "MANAGE"
In the left hand panel your'll find "DISK MANAGMENT"
See if you can see the drive there, if you can you may need to assign it a drive letter.

My external hard drive fell off my desk and since it has been beeping and not operating correctly

You broke it. Does the Acomdata warranty cover self-inflicted damage?
Did you buy it with a credit-card that adds "all-perils" insurance?

All you can do is to disassemble the enclosure, remove the disk-drive,
buy a similar, compatible, disk-drive, install it into the enclosure,
and thus "revive" your external storage device.

Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
They will fix your disk-drive, just long-enough to copy all your files to a brand-new disk-drive.

When i power up my 1TD external harddrive Windows is unable to access the drive or even reformat it is there a way to fix this?

Did you check the disk manager in Windows? Right-click My Computer and select Manage. You can see if the disk is there, if it is partitioned and formatted.
Could be a driver letter conflict.

Acomdata 1TB external drive

I have the same exact drive (I'm assuming as it's the same make/size since I don't have a model number) and what you need to do is turn the drive off and let it cool down. The drive is not well vented and it tends to over heat. I would get in the habit of turning the drive off whenever you're not using it because of this problem.

Not enough disk space to copy

Scan the drive due to possibly virus managing your disk drive. Virus can easily access through USB hard drives. If not solve the problem, so its better to format.
