Hi all,
I was just wondering what was the final decideing factor in your range
purchase. There are several really great brands out there, but what made your
purchase special? I am planning on purchasing a 36 inch range either gas or
dual feul in the next couple weeks and just can't decide. Any suggestions or
information will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

My deciding factors were the particular features I wanted and the overall
look and quality of the range. I looked at Wolf and 5-Star along with the
Viking and ended up getting a 36" 6-burner Viking range. It has a
thermal/convection oven (convection is switchable) which I absolutely love,
and I am happy with this range overall.
There have been a couple of problems with it, relating to the igniters.
Apparently this is very common, and once we replaced (hubby did this
himself, so it saved us a service call) the control module all has been
well. You might want to inquire with service people to see what the
general reliability is for the various brands you're looking at.

We looked at features, first....but you will probably find that most have
some configuration that will fit your needs. Our issue was getting a range
that had a depth that was close to our present counter-top (25 ") The
Viking duel-fuel ranges had the depth that we needed to be able to have a
range that fit into our current needs. Also, if you get a chance, go out
and look at a bunch of ranges, try to find a dealer that carries several
brands, then, you will see/feel, etc...different things on each brand that
you feel are important. ie: Grate design, oven door weight, burner design,
etc...Good luck, once you get one, you will love it! It's time to go cook!
