I am using a Dell monitor E177FP with a compaq computer running windows 7. Dell computer crashed hard with no warning what so ever. Problem, My screen resolution will change from small to big to really small. I have readjusted the display settings from the control panel. Right clicked on the screen to reset the screen resolution and even rebooted several times, then all of a sudden it displays correctly. Is there a compatability issue or a patch or what? Please help this is driving my eyes crazy. Thanks

You can look here to see if this E177FP is supported by Win7.
Microsoft WINDOWS 7: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Default.aspx?type=Hardware

From what you described, it sounds like PC problem. But look at MSFT website above first.

I hope your monitor does not have bad caps as shown in my pictures here:

Hello,

The E177fp and E197fp are identical units other than the size of the display panel. Here is a link to a repair guide for the E177fp that has videos showing how to open the unit. It should help you get your open.

Have a dell e177fp monitor. When I power on it only displays for 3 seconds and shuts off. Green power light remains on.

You probably have failure in the inverter circuits due to shorted transistors, bad solder joints, bad caps. Please see my pictures here so you will know what to look for inside.

I have a dell monitor model e177fpv. It is stuck in power save mode. What do I do?

I have worked a great deal with the Dell E177fpv boards and when it is blinking power switch then it's bad. Most the time it's the C204,and C203 compositors that are bad (100uF 10v), and 70% of the time the C159,C154 ( 470 uF 25V are bad as well. now i have replaced them many of time and it had came back to life. i have also found other caps bad on it as well. i know you can order a new board for $39.00 and here is the link. http://www.lcdrepair.us/e177fpv_inverter-power.html
