I want to change my desktop background. .what is the easiest and safest site to go to for reat pictures?

Right click your mouse on an empty area of the desktop. A small menu will appear.
  1. Click on Properties [This will be Personalize on Windows Vista or Windows 7] to open the Display Properties screen window.
  2. 3Select the Desktop tab, if using Windows XP. Windows 98 users can select the Background tab.
  3. 4Choose a background. On the lower left half of the Display Properties Window, you will see Background (Win XP) or Wallpaper (Win 98). You can choose a background from the long menu list by clicking on the background/wallpaper design you want.
  4. 5Select a position. Stretch is generally the best choice but if the image you have selected is of a low resolution or an aspect ratio different from your monitor's, then Center or Tile will work best.
  5. 6Click OK to close the Display Properties Window.

This could be a sign of possible issues. I would check the drive for bad sectors. I would run a test of the memory (such as Mem test86) and verify there are no problems.

Had a power outage when it came back on the monitor font and resoultion if huge I tried to change the pixels but couldn't

you can change the resolution from the display properties of your computer.

if you're using windows xp:

right-click on desktop > properties > settings. then try to change the resolution.

if you're using windows vista/7

right-click on desktop > screen resolution then change the settings.

**if nothing happens.

check the software of your graphics/video card (nvidia etc.) i believe there is an option there where-in you can change the resolution of you computer. check if it works.

** if nothing happens

check if the driver software is installed.

for windows xp:

right-click on my computer > properties > hardware then click on device manager.

for windows vista/7:

right-click on computer > properties > device manager (left side of the window.)

when you're at device manager window, check if there's any question marks. if there is. re-install the driver and see if it works.

let me know if it solved the problem.

I just recently got dsl through At&t, my dsl modem is connected just fine and works with my laptop but my desktop won't work with it. It shows I'm online but my browser(firefox) isn't working with the...

Based on the information you gave, looks like
(1) Either there is a proxy server set in your browser settings on the desktop. If yes then uncheck it.
(2) Another solution is to copy the same settings as on your laptop to the desktop. Assuming you have Windows installed, go to control panel, network connections. right click on the ethernet adapter --> properties. Select TCP/IP in connection type.Click on properties. Now here whatever entries you find (which work with AT&T) you need to copy those to desktop too.
You internet should work after this.
Thanks.

On Windows XP laptop. can't use Desktop Display options

There is option in display properties (can't remember the exact tab at the moment) that allows you to use a web link associated with your background, uncheck that and the issue should resolve (I think the url link associated is now invalid)
