you can hit ctrl-alt-delete to get task manager, then hit File-New Task, then type in iexplore.exe, then click OK. this should bring up internet explorer for you to get to that website.

Sounds like it didn't download properly, try uninstalling Avast and reinstalling it.

How do I increase the size of the text being displayed on my laptop monitor ?

Hello,
To increase/decrease the font size,
1. Right click on the desk top screen (or double click on control panel, then choose personalize icon)
2. Under "Task" double click " adjust font size (dpi)" then click "continue".
3. Click "larger dpi" or "custom dpi" box. Choosing custom setting should indicate 100%.

To increase font size, type a percent greater than 100 (ie. 105%) or to decrease size, use a percent less than 100 (ie. 95%).
4. Click "ok". You may receive a message to restart computer for change to take effect.
5. Restart computer. Repeat process until you are happy with the results.

I have broken.openco after scanning with malware bytes. i have scanned several times with this but keeps comming back how can i get rid of this?

Try to download and install AVAST antivirus Home Edition. It is free. Besides, avast has an option to scan at boot time so it can detect and delete viruses and malwares before they can cling to your system memory. You can download it here.

Trying to load Avast anti- virus & get an error message can't "configure set-up"

The most current version of Avast is 5.0 and you can download the free version by Clicking Here. If you decide to go with the newer version I would recommend making sure that the 4.6 is removed. If you have issues removing 4.6 use the cleaning tool, you can find the removal tool by Clicking Here
Do you receive this error after you install Avast or after when you try and launch?
Do you have Microsoft Anti-Spyware installed?
Try running the install during a cleanboot:
Make sure that you have removed any setup files from the previous failed install, using the removal tool posted above if needed. Start the System Configuration Utility
  1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
  2. The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed
  3. Select the Start Up tab
  4. Make note of any programs you may have already turned off, once you have done that select disable all
  5. Now Select the Services tab
  6. Make sure you check off Hide All Microsoft Services before making any changes
  7. Take note of any services you have turned off and then select disable all
  8. Click Apply and then OK
  9. Reboot the system and try installing 4.6 again

The monitor keeps going to sleep mode when you turn the computer. this just started

Well Pebbles lets try this and see. Click on your start button down there, then go to Control Panel and Click that. When Control Panel opens Click on Appearance & Themes, Click on Display and then Screen Saver tab. Down at the bottom is the Monitor Power button, Click that. Now there are tabs at the top, go to the Hibernate Tab and Click that, Now Clear the Hibernation Box, now go back up to the tabs and go to Advanced Tab and clear both option boxes. Okay now go to the Power Schemes Tab and clicik the blue arrow, scroll up and down till you see the never box and Click it, Make sure that it is Marked. Now your Monitor will never turn off until you turn it off on the Monitor itself. Now do the same thing for the Hard Disk Turn off, Click Never. And now your at System Standby, Click Never also. Click OK, and now your back at Display Properties. Here you can change your Screen Saver or Desk Top Background if you want to. Click OK when your done and your Done. Let me know if that helped and don't forget to rate my help, Good or Bad. Good Luck.

I have a HP computer, with Windows XP,2002. I had Norton Antivirus 2007, via CD, added to my computer. I want to UNinstall the program. Everything seemed to go OK, --then a display that said, Setup...

Hi co2donjo,

It appears that your un-install didn't quite finish in its entirety, no problem try this:
First off, go to control panel and click on security, see if windows still recognizes norton as your antivirus. If not and it says you are unprotected, go ahead and download the av of your choose, however, Avast is hard to beat, its free and reliable. Follow the setup instructions. You may get a message that says "Avast has detected other av programs install on this computer-do you want to continue with install, click yes or OK. Once your av is up and running go around and delete anything and everything that says norton/symtac. There are quicker ways of deleting the norton av, but, that would depend on your level of windows expertise. You don't want to go snooping through your root directory or your root if your not clear on what to do, so, try this and see if it helps.

Jpg's display on some sites and not others on home pc but all display on laptop

Note: I assume you are using internet explorer, so these are directions for internet explorer. If you are using another web browser let me know.

In internet explorer at the top on your menu bar click on tools > then click on Internet Options > Click on the Advanced Tab > In the box that says settings scroll down until you see the section titled "Multimedia" Make sure the box that says "Enable automatic image resizing" is checked. Make sure the box that says "show pictures" is checked. There are also some other boxes here that would be good to make sure are checked as well such as Smart image dithering and play sounds in webpages, and play animations in webpages. The show image download placeholders does not have to be checked. And always enable clear type for HTML does not have to be checked. After you have clicked those boxes then click apply, then click OK. You may have to exit Internet Explorer and restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect. I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more trouble.

Hi,

Have you tried increasing the Screen Resolution to 1024 X 768? This could be done by right clicking on any clear area of your desktop, click on "Properties", click on "Settings" tab, move the Screen resolution slider till it shows 1024X768, Apply, OK. Should you be able to do this, then the "Apply" and "OK" buttons should now be visible. If for some reason you cannot set it to 1024X768, then 800 X 600 should also work albeit a little larger.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
