Question about Brother XL-5700 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Needle doesn't line up

I've never used my sewing machine before and today I tried to figure it out. I jumped the gun though and tried to sew without the foot on. I figured out the problem and put the foot on and now the need won't line up with the hole in the foot. Is there any way I can align it?

With the pattern dial set on the straight stitch, you can align the needle by turning the width dial and setting it to about 2.5 ( so that the needle will stay in the center).

Walking Foot Trouble

sounds to me like you are getting what I call "flagging" of the material... where a tiny bur or something catches the material and pulls it up. If possible increase the presser a bit on the presser foot. You might also have the wrong foot for the machine or simply a defective one.

Also when it does this... do you notice any bobbin thread on top of the seam?

The thread on the needle of my Elna sewing machine wont pick up the thread on the bobbin and bring it up?

try changing the needle
if changing the needle doesn't help then it's possible that the machine
is out of time & needs to be checked at a repair shop

My machine is skipping stitches

Lower the pressure on the feed dogs, use a stretch stitch, and longer stitch length. Be sure to use a good quality thread, and maybe go lighter weight thread.

HI, I ve just got my Juki 644D yesterday. Brand new. Today I was using it and tried to adjust the tension. The front cover was open when I tried to do some stiches to see if the tension was ok. ...

take back the machine to the store you bought it from and get another machine.that is if you have warranty.you will have more problem later on.that needle like metal is from under the machine and it broke off the tension feeder. good luck.

I needle comes unthreaded whenever we try to sew. We've both tried numerous times and it doesn't make a sitch. The bobbin seems to be done correctly b/c the bottom thread comes up with no problem....

first let's deal with the needle becoming unthreaded, Keeping the needle threaded is easy, always keep thread tails of 3 to 6 inches on the top thread & bobbin at all times, & make sure the thread tail are pulled behind the needle before you start to sew,, this will ensure that the thread will not come out of the needle when you start to sew.

you mention the fabric is thin,, do you have a needle that's right for the fabric your sewing?
thin fabric needs a different needle than blue jeans fabric, check your top tension & see what the setting is on, usually 3 to 5 is good.

when the needle & thread are right for the fabric then the sewing is good.

also clean under the needle plate & bobbin area for loose threads or lint

also it's a possibility that the machine could be out of time & would need to be serviced by a sewing machine repair shop-as they have the tools for the job

I have a Necchi 3205 Royal series machine. I was sewing denim and it jambed and bent the needle. I replaced the needle and now it won't pull the bobbin thread up. I have tried several different needles...

Hi, I've got a necchi sewing machine too, not the same model as yours.
you said you were sewing denim & the machine jamed & bent the needle, it's sounds like the machine is out of time, sometime it doesn't take much to get them out of time & would have to be serviced by a repair shop with the tools needed to fix the timing.

Needle is hitting presser foot and the plate beneath - not lining up and I can't figure out how to do it.

Your needle is incorrectly inserted or bent. Try a new needle and use handwheel to see if it is lining correctly. Flat part of needle should face the back of the needle holder and be pushed well in.
