I need to reprogram the printer to print from my computer instead of the letter tray that was previously there. It is probably in the manual, but I don't have one. How can I reprogram it and how can I get a new manual?

the cartridge in this machine has a chip on it but it should still print if you get a toner low message. the chip counts pages not amount used to print so if you are doing light print jobs it does not no it only counts the cycles
Usually caused when the pickup roller pulls more then 1 sheet of paper thru or you simple dont have the backstop or side guides in the tray set for the paper size your putting in. I all these fail, could have the tray set to any size but the driver is wanting to print on say legal size but you put letter size in the tray instead triggering the sensor error... hope this helps...
look at the tray settings on the printer, (Access the control panel) typical setting is "any size any type", change the tray 1 setting to 11 x 17 , plain paper, and it will then take the paper as requested.
When installing new cartridges, it's always a great idea to perform a cleaning and recalibration of the machine. Below are the steps needed to do just such a task. You may want to print these out or save them somewhere for future reference as well. They are directly from the HP website.
