You can't charge on cool mode as your indoor temp is very lower than minimum temp of air conditioning. ., 16 C degree. And also due to low ambient temp your coil is getting freezes. Keep in heat mode and check still icing your coil, it's short of gas. And that time you can do gas charging by keeping cylinder up right. Helpful?

My Whynter UIM-155 ice maker used to make alot of ice quickly. Now, it does not make very much ice and it takes a long time? What should I do?

look at the condenser coli to see if it is dirty if so clean it. Dirty coil will cause it longer to make ice. also make sure nothing is blocking the condenser return.

Evaporator coils are freezing up. I took off the side cover and it is a solid sheet of ice covering 90% of the coils.

Hello, ice will form for one of two raesons, either low airflow or a low refrigerant charge. Start by checking the filter to make sure it is clean, then check the blower wheel and make sure it is clean. If the unit is clean then the unitnis low on refrigerant and will require a hvac tech to come out and recharge the unit.

My room window type lg collins gold has ice on coolins fins whats trhis

This frosting of the cooling coils is la result of high humidity levels. Generally, when this happens the unit will go into Defrost Mode and will stop cooling until the coils are clear. What often adds to the problem is a dirty or clogged air intake filter. Turn the unit OFF, unplug it and remove the filter. Clean it, if necessary. If it's a washable filter, be sure it is thoroughly dry before reinstalling.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Ice on coils

Ice on the coils can be caused by low air flow over the evaporator coil, a dirty coil, or a low refrigerant charge. First thing to do is check your filters and replace them. Second make sure the indoor and outdoor coil are clean. Third, make sure the indoor fan is running. If this doesn't fix the problem then get your refrigerant charge checked.

I am not getting cold air inside and I have a build of "dry ice" on the unit outside?

You have iced up your unit. Turn Tstat to off fan to on. This will thaw unit in a couple of hours. NOW The reason for the ice up condition has to be found. Low on gas, stopped up filter, stopped up evap.(inside) indoor fan inop. Start with simple first check filer,If you can see the evap coil see if it is stopped up. To charge the unit if low on gas you have to call a service tech. Ask for free estimate so you will know up front what it will cost. Remember if you add gas there is a leak. Make sure your tstat setting is not to low. If the evap coil is dirty you can clean this yourself. Use a stool brush with soft fiber. spray with 409 let soak and brush clean your coil. Rus

My ice machine does not make enough ice

Check the water filters first. Then check the condenser coils for dust and dirt. Determine which way the air goes thru the condenser coils and check on the side the air goes into. There are coil cleaning sprays that work good. If it is still slow, it may need gas. That will require a service call from a technician.
