Used to be able to buy a vcr also--set tv on channel 3, then always watch through vcr's tv tuner, use vcr remote to control channels.
now--new solution with digital switchover is to buy an ATSC tuner and use that remote to control your TV. or a satellite stb or a cable stb.
universal remote is a good solution but you will get better results with a good universal remote--especially learning remotes I am using Sony-8 function universal remote ..600 and it is really good. is able to control some components that the 7 function remote cannot control.

Re: tv remote needed
The most inexpensive solution, is to buy a universal remote. I own a One-for-All universal remote (model URC-4220) which works with Memorex TVs. I bought it at Walmart for less than 10 dollars.
If you want to pay a little more money, here are a few websites to visit: REMOTES.COM 1-800-REMOTES
You can find a few more websites by typing in:
MEMOREX TV REMOTES into the Google searchbox.

Sounds like you might have switched display from pal to NTSC or vice versa.this is usually the first thing that causes color to drop out.if not you will need to go through menu settings to check if you have rgb or similar color controls that are not set correctly.i assume you have already checked the saturation has not been turned down.sometimes the remote buttons can stick down or be under a book or cushion which will alter tv controls without your input.
try 032 or 132 or 11034 or 694. These have all worked on various remotes including Dish Network remotes for the Durabrand DWT 1304 color 13" TV. Look at the Funai Corp codes and the Orion codes. Sometimes they work, Funai Corp makes Durabrand.
The problem was caused by poor projector alignment. Alignment was off because we recently moved the TV from a friends house.
This particular set allowed me to realign the projectors with the remote control from a setting in the TV's menu. It was as simple as opening the menu item then aligning the cross-hairs with the remotes cursor. There are 3 projectors, one for each color. One is fixed and the other two are movable. They need to be perfectly aimed in order to get a clear, properly colored image.
When you find yourself with an electronic device and no operators manual it pays to spend the time and effort to download it from the internet.
