I also have an itt night quest 150, and it shows a darker crescent shape in the eyepiece. I can't find any blemish, or other problem with the glass. I've cleaned the surface carefully, but I have not gotten rid of the shadow.

Sounds like the image tube may have shifted in its mounting? This sometimes occures when the night vision has been subjected to an impact or dropped sometime in its life. Repair is not cost effective for a 150 / Gen2.

Not sure if this applies, but this is on the Morovision site: http://www.morovision.com/faqs.htm Because of the manufacturing processes, all night vision image tubes will have different cosmetics such as small spots or specs, photocathode coloring, or a chicken wire effect from the microchannel plate. Most cosmetics are only noticed during viewing in high light situations such as viewing with the daylight filter on in a lit room. Most cosmetic blemishes are not noticeable during normal nighttime operation but may still be seen to some degree in certain situations. These cosmetics in no way effect the performance of the image tube and do not decrease the ability to perform nighttime tasks.

I need a manual for a itt vision quest 5001 or i need to know how to reset it.

Great looking product - GEN3 - much better than the Night Owl stuff from 5 yrs ago.
Not sure if you can obtain a manual for a product that is restricted by ITAR regulations. I thought these were MIL use .
The only thing I can find is a SPEC link like :-- Operators Manual. CALL US TODAY AT: Toll Free 1-800-424-8222 http://www.morovision.com/pdf/2006/ITT_NQ5001.pdf
A reset is usually any method of disconnecting the power supply for at least 3-5 secs so the sensor can discharge into ground. Just removing the batteries should do this. -- Ray

Left a pair of PVS7B/D's on with the pinhole lens cap in place for about 16 hours by mistake, now I see a "ghosted" permanent image superimposed over my real time image. What does this indicate?

It's called time exposure or flash over. What happen is the infiltrating light through the pen hole and a long duration will burn shadows into the micro channel plate in the generation 3 image intensifier tube.

These expensive image tubes can be repaired. Contact Itt inc or Vard Inc in Garland, TX. That about it unless you want to buy a new gen 3 image tube. Maybe $1500+. I would call around to other Night Vision Optica companies and see if the have a used gen 3 image tube. There quit a few companies in the USA that work on NV devise. Also, contact ITT and ask them they repair image tubes, maybe! stewbison

Hello i dont necessarily have a problem with my itt 190. I am actually researchujng the nvg before i decide to purchase it. I know its a gen 3 but know little else. Iam under the impression it is a...

electronic components; resistor, capacitor, transistor, processor, switches, wire, all component have to meet or exceed those standards set by the Military. When these component come together to make ccfl, inverter, voltage multiplier, controller that they have to meet standards set by the US Military RD. Those standard are stiff. Wonder why they didn't throw the M16 or M4 in a junk pile. junk.
The image are made by ITT liton, Vard In, Photo-tonic, etc. These companies apply for military contracts in which there manufactured item will have to meet Military standards. This companies are American. Maybe with the exception Photo-tonic it has linage to Europe--Belgium.

Vard Inc made the 1st generation PVS2 Star Light Scope in 1962 which was first used in Vietnam successfully. There were other NV devise big and bulky. Back in the 50's the Army had rifle mount scope, it took three soldier to operate it. You couldn't sneak up on blind rat with it....

I used PVS2 in Vietnam and it save my *** a few times. As you know being in the military everything you carry has to be light.

When I was in Vietnam and southeast Asia for 34 months. One learned in a hurry to drop stuff that you really don't need, gas masked, sleeping mat, ratios, etc.etc... In Vietnam i carry 18 clips/50 round bagged of ammo for M2 carbine, three hand grenades, one ***** trap grenade. two ***** trap AK47 clips. I used indigenous pack, poncho line, indigenous poncho, five plastic bag of rice with beef and chicken bullion (from home). Tabasco sauce. four canteen of water, and one 3/4gal bag of water. Sometime I worn Vietnamese cloths, loose fitting black silky pants and linen shirt, Cooley hat, Uncle HO sandals. and sleep in the air, mud, on the ground, up against a tree or in a water fill bomb crater.

I carry what I needed, not what the Army want me carry. I got in a lot of trouble but I prevailed in those adversaries. I hope I answer all your questions. stewbison

PVS14 will not power up. You can see the IR light up, but the night vision itself will not come on.

Hello, it could just three thing wrong here; no battery power to oscillator and voltage multiplier or the image intensifier is bad. You can test the oscillator and voltage multiplier by powering it up with 3 volt battery and touch the output end with your finger. You'll get a little shock, but they is very little current, especially in the micr-amps region.

You'll need to send the tube to two distributor of ITT Litton image tubes, Morrison Optic Co, and the other ????? can remember. GB....stewibison

Hi, I have the night mariner 250 model (Gen 2?), when turning it on it shows the low battery indicator (red) light flashing and then switches off after approx. 6 seconds. It does this all the time, even...

The problem could be caused by dirty battery contacts or faulty capacitor on power supply board.

I suggest cleaning the battery terminals with iso-propanol alcohol and fine emery paper.

If this doesn't work, you really should take it to a repair/service centre.

Does anybody know what type of battery The ITT night quest 220 ni

I'm pretty sure that your unit uses the 3V cr123 Lithium battery. You can get it at RadioShack. You can always take it down to radioshack and pretty quick you will find the correct batt.for the unit. Do not use rechargeable batts!
