I was trying to help a handicapped (hit by a car and paralyzed at age 11) cousin who accidentally removed necessary dll file(s) athgina.dll and could only restart, however, pressing F2 doesn't work. Is there another way to fix this (boot options, reset, CMOS, etc.? He has a Dell Inspiron 5100. I tried removing the main battery and leaving it out overnight, but that didn't work. Couldn't locate a 3V battery to pull. My e-mail is [email protected]

I suggest a full and complete re-install of your Windows software use the disk that came with the computer make sure that the BIOS is set to boot from CD or DVD whichever is installed and reboot install the software and format the disk removing files especially .dll files is a no no. Who knows what else is messed up so reboot and reinstall this will solve everything for you. Especially if you are asking this question in a forum great question however by the time you figure it out you could have re-installed software and been done with it. Just a suggestion!

Says missing file root>\system32\hal.dll

Sometimes we look for the difficult when the solution is right in front of you.

I got the error message after flashing my AMD64 BIOS. Tried rebooting, then a repair, and the problem wouldn't go away. But, if I set the boot sequence up for CDROM first, then HDD, and let the bootup go WITHOUT hitting any key to boot from the CD, Windows would start.

Tried the randall's solution. No luck. Tried copying Hal.dll to system32 still no luck.

Then by accident, I hit F8 during the initial boot. I selected my master 1 and got through.

Went into setup and found that my HDD boot sequence had my slave as the first boot device. End of probelm.

So, here is what was going on. I had upgraded to a larger hard drive, and kept the original as a slave. (Just to have access to files that I might have forgotten about. While I had erased the files on D, I didn't remove the system files. So, when I tried to boot, it was the system on D drive that would try to boot but all the necessary files needed to boot that disk had been removed.

But, randall's solution link is a good one to know. It helped me solve a similiar probelm on another computer where I had two operation systems to choose from, but only one installed.

Good morning everyone, whenever I try to install age of empires 3 asian dynasties-the following information appears: Error: 0x80040702, Description: Failed to load DLL: MGSPIDY, be grateful for your help

You can fix this problem by going into your control panel and removing Age of Empires 3 using the uninstall program utility. Then go into your documents and delete any folders found in Program Files/Microsoft Games folder that are related to Age of Empires. After that reinstall Age of Empires 3 and then try to install the expansion. Hope this helps!

This is the error message I receive when I try to view siles: This program requires the file advrcntr2.dll, which was not found on this system. What do I have to do to rectify the problem?

Most advrcntr2.dll "not found" errors are due to issues with the Nero CD and DVD burning software program. The advrcntr2.dll DLL file is a file that must exist in the correct folder for Nero to burn CDs or DVDs.
Most often the "This program requires the file advrcntr2.dll, which was not found on this system." error, are caused when, for whatever reason, the advrcntr2.dll file is deleted or moved from its proper location.
The advrcntr2.dll file might go "missing" because it was accidentally deleted from the folder, because an anti-virus or other security program mistakenly removed it thinking it was a security threat, or perhaps when you last upgraded or reinstalled Nero.

Do not, under any circumstances, download the advrcntr2.dll file from any "DLL download site." There are several reasons that downloading DLLs from these sites are never a good idea. (If you've already downloaded advrcntr2.dll from one of those DLL download sites, remove it from wherever you copied it to and continue with the following steps).
Restart your computer. The advrcntr2.dll error might be a fluke and a simple restart could clear it up completely.
Record the serial number of your particular Nero installation. Follow these instructions on Nero's site for locating the serial number to your particular Nero version.
If you can't find your Nero serial number using Nero's instructions a product key finder program could help. (here is one that may help: http://download.cnet.com/Keyfinder-2010/3000-2094_4-75183881.html?tag=mncol;2 )
Uninstall Nero from your computer.
Be sure to uninstall using the Uninstall Nero link in the Nero program group (if available) or use the Programs or Add/Remove Programs utility in Control Panel.
Restart your computer.
Download the Nero General CleanTool utility ( http://www.nero.com/enu/tools-utilities.html ). Install and run this free program from Nero. This utility will ensure that Nero is 100% removed from your computer.
Restart your computer again, just to be safe.
Reinstall Nero from your original installation CD or downloaded file. Hopefully, this step should restore the advrcntr2.dll file.
Install the latest update to your Nero program if there is one available. There may have been certain issues in your original version of Nero that caused the advrcntr2.dll error you've been seeing.
Restart your computer again.
Run a virus/malware scan of your entire system if the Nero reinstallation steps don't resolve your issue. Some advrcntr2.dll issues can actually be related to hostile programs that masquerade as the advrcntr2.dll file.
Note: The advrcntr2.dll file should be located in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib folder. If you find the advrcntr2.dll file in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, chances are it is not Nero's legitimate advrcntr2.dll file.
Hope this helps you.
