No Picture but Sound Vivitek 51" DLP

The picture recently went out on my 2 yr old Vivitek DLP. Following the
suggested guidance in the manual I ordered and replaced the lamp module
but still no picture. Your problem solving skills would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue but is a Protron PLTV-26 liquid crystal display tv. I can get a half-second view of the screen but then it goes black. Have sound, not picture.

From what I have read further down the page, it looks as if there is no solution for this. Can you tell me what to do other than throwing it out. It is not even 2-years old.

Try to use dvd player to play video to determine where the problems goes wrong either from the video signal of the cable provider or from the TV itself.

Please let me know any update.

NO PICTURE FROM MY VIERA THAT IS JUST ABOUT 1 YR OLD. Picture and sound disappeared while watching Masters Golf this morning. Green light flashes but no picture.

Hello there, since I work for a service dept. for one of major producers, I know that this is a problem with the source or the mother board of your TV. It usually happens when there is an extra voltage coming from your TV operator so I suggest you to contact your dealer, or see the warranty card for guidance because your TV needs a service check.
I hope you still have a valid warranty to be able to get a free repair.

Good Luck.

Hello.
It looks like you ignored lamp replacement in your TV. It have to be replaced every 2.5 years of average use. It's like oil change in a car. Regular scheduled service.
You can read info about lamp replacement in your TV owner's manual, buy lamp on-line and replace it by yourself to save some money.
Regards.
Russ.

Vivitek 51 DLP HD HDMI

You should have checked the troubleshooting section of your manual!! Okay, enough scolding. You need a new lamp. I do enjoy my Vivitek, but this is a definite downside of a DLP, especially if you watch a lot of TV. I am on my third lamp already, and they are NOT inexpensive. If you have your TV less than a year, your lamp may still be covered under warranty and may be replaced by Vivitek for free. If you have to buy your lamp, it can easily cost you over $200. This is the new lamp in a whole new assembly, which makes installing it EXTREMELY EASY and will just take a few moments. If you are a little more adventurous and want to save some money, you can buy the lamp alone. You then remove the lamp assembly from the television, open it up (there's several screws to remove), disconnect the old lamp, and reverse the process by making the proper connections with the new lamp and putting the new assembly back together and back into the television. It sounds more complicated than it is.. Biggest rule.-- don't touuch the surface of the lamp with your bare hands. You don't want your oils on the lamp. . And once you put everything back together and restart the TV, reset the timer for the lamp (the manual explains how). The lamp timer is very important for warning you of when to replace the lamp under ordinary conditions, when it does make it through its entire expected life. I don't know if it's appropriate to actually recommend specific vendors for the lamp, but I can if that's okay. email me midlomiss at yahoo dot com

I have a 56" model that I have had a similar problem. My bulb burned out in <90 days. Warranty was 90 days on the bulb itself. When the TV picture goes out, the indicator LEDS blink on and off.

Here is what you have to determine:

1) First cover the left LED with a piece of paper so that you can't see it blinking. I don't know if your layout is the same as my TV. You may have to switch the paper blocking the LED.

2) Pay attention to the other LED and READ its' flashing code. In my case, the code was 2-3. It would flash 2 times, pause briefly, then flash 3 times. This meant code 23. That indicated the bulb was burned out.

3) If you look in the manual, It does have a code list of some sorts to tell you of the codes and their meanings. Hope this helps.
