Question about Optoma H30 Multimedia Projector
The part to clean is the sensor that wraps around the colour wheel or some thing on it's axle.
This sensor identifies when the colour wheel has made a revolution and syncs the video output to the right segment in the colour wheel so only the red image is displayed when the colourwheel is filtering red, etc...
If the sensor gets dirty it will not be able to tell exactly where the colourwheel is, and in my case started to report a segment off.
Consider this before you take your machine apart.. I live in New York City, and this area is rather dusty.. I've had my projector for 2 years running pretty constantly, so it was pretty dusty. I mention this because there are other possible causes to this problem. It could be an electronic issue.
There were three things that convinced me it was a colour wheel issue : 1) The problem appeared slowly over the period of about 2 weeks.. First it started flickering, and then all of a sudden it would switch back and forth.. 2) The color white was fine. In fact, the image was fine, just some colors were switched. I could even fix the image by adjusting the hue in my video.. 3) My machine was full of dust..
I don't know about the HP projectors, but this is the best I can do to describe how to locate the colour wheel...
If you take the bulb out of your projector, you'll probably see part of it.. The first thing wherever the bulb shines into is probably the colorwheel (or a protective cover). In my machine there is no way to access it from the bulb housing, so I had to take the entire case apart.
From there you can clearly see how the bulb shines through the colourwheel, and then then light enters a closed chamber (sealed, I assume, from dust).
If you are not able to locate the colorwheel after this, maybe take some pictures with the case apart and send them to me.. I'll look for a manual online in the meantime..
Also, I'd be happy to talk to you over skype to get more detail.
