When ever the picture freezes intermittendly the problem is usually poor connection on the signal line (antenna or connection on tv) or poor reception. Could be the tuner if the tv has one.To eliminate the tuner possibility try anther tv set if possible.
If you still cannot figure out the problem, let me know what kind of set up you have connected to your tv set.
Do you have a satellite or cable box and if you have splitters.

I bought aRCA air ultra thin multi directional indoor HDTV antenna,I cant get this to work with my tv, a 32mf330b/f7 no matter what I do no matter how many times I run the autoprogram, can You help.

Indoor aerials are exclusively for areas with a strong signal and the way digital tv works a good signal is essential.

I expect the signal where the aerial is sited has a poor signal strength and a high gain outdoor aerial will be needed. I suggest you have a look around and check what the neighbours are doing but bear in mind the signal strength in built up and fringe areas can be the radio equivalent of micro climates where moving a few yards in any direction and you could either be freezing or growing pineapples.

If you can take your tv to a good aerial and do a retune and store the found channels you might be lucky and discover your indoor aerial might receive a few channels well enough for viewing.

Why does the signal go bad intermittently during a tv program?

Local interference or a drifting signal caused by being in a fringe area, receiving an additional signal from a reflecting source intermittently (such as when a train goes past nearby, a low flying aircraft or even a large truck) or a number of other possibilities.
Even a strong wind deflecting an aerial a little can be the guilty party.

Too much signal can be as bad for digital reception as insufficient signal.

A signal strength meter can be an inexpensive way to detect the source of your trouble.

All bbc channels freeze

This could be too much signal thanks to the Freeview retunes going on. Your aerial is more sensitive at some frequencies, so there's more signal power higher up the frequency range.

A simple and inexpensive diagnosis tool is a variable attenuator. The MA1620 on this page is perfect for that job:
Splitters amplified splitters and attenuators

It will give you a way to reduce the signal level at one TV without affecting the other TVs in the house.

Fisrt check that the aerial connector going into the TV is OK.
The UK is in the process of switching off the analogue channels and reassigning to digital TV. This means that the signal strengths of various transmitters are getting stronger and channels are moving around to different frequencies. Try retuning the digital TV stations. If this does not work then try an external DTV box to see if the TV is at fault or it is a bad signal on the aerial.

I have a brand new technika tv 216/54g. It has freeview built in. I have a brand new indoor digital amplified aerial also technika but I cant get it to pick up any stations. Do I need anything else? please...

Hi there,

You don't necessarily need anything else, but you may not have a strong enough signal to pick up the digital/freeview channels using an indoor aerial. It could also be that the indoor aerial is not correctly aligned.

If the signal strength is lower than approx. 50%, the TV may detect them during the automatic channel scan but it wont store them. When the signal strength for any digital channel is 50% or lower it's more or less unwatchable - the picture would be constantly breaking-up or freezing and the audio drops out continually. Trying to scan for channels using an indoor aerial is rather hit and miss. Numerous attempts may be necessary before you get any channels.

Assuming you have a roof aerial, it is far easier to temporarily connect the TV to a fixed aerial point while you run the automatic channel scan. The TV will store all the channels and you can then move it to it's permanent location and connect the indoor aerial. You can then adjust the indoor aerial with the channels already stored until you find a location for the aerial where you have a good signal.

Doing it this way also eliminates the possibility of a fault with the TV and confirms that you are performing the channel scan correctly. If the TV is connected to a fixed aerial point and you are still unable to receive or store any channels, then it's likely that you are performing the channel scan incorrectly or there is a fault with the TV.

Please try scanning your channels using a known working fixed aerial point. If you are still unable
to receive any channels - or you don't have any fixed aerial points - please post back for further assistance.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

Most of the channels breaking up despite auto retuning

could be one of a few things,
low signal strength, aerial out of line with transmitter.
bad coax connections losing signal strength.
coax broken inside, or old and not low loss.
Get the aerial checked for direction, half a degree out of line over a few miles and you will lose a lot of signal strength, as will old coax (aerial cable) and if you are using an unshielded coax you could be losing signal strength through the cable itself. Replace the connecters and try to use a straight run of cable instead of having joins in it as these joins, even if using connecters, will cause a weak signal. If yiu are running more than one tv off your aerial, invest in a booster.

I have a LG PC1DV Plazma and every now and then the picture will freeze, the sound continues on and you cannot change channels. the only way to un freeze is to turn off tv wait 30 sec then turn back on and...

Contact your LG dealer & have someone call to check the software version currently used by the TV. It may need updated as there is an issue for picture freeze, if this is ok there could be a problem with the signal strength of your signal, if this drops then it will also cause the picture to freeze, in which case you would need to have your aerial checked.

Intermittent sound/picture freeze when recording

this fault could be due to electrical interference ie freezer cutting in/out .just because your signal is strong dose not mean its interference free .check you analogue picture get it as good as you can with no ghosting. i also live in the southwest cornwall infact .aerials in lofts are not a good idea .i would mount it outside. by the way i am told that when the old analog channels are turned off the digital signal strength will be increased. good luck .farr64 [camborne cornwall]

Freeview box (Duraband)

Hi Sandra , it could be poor signal ,worth trying another box on your aerial , also the aerial lead could cause this even the one from the wall plate to the Freeview box ,if your analogue picture is snowy then I would suspect the aerial have you looked for a signal strength meter in the menu , might show how good the signal is
hope this helps
cheers John
