Hi,
Please unplug TV from wall socket for couple of minutes, replug back in and turn ON.
If still does not power up, try it in another wall socket.
Also check standby/ power light flashing or its solid at TV.
If standby light is flashing or its not lit then TV got power supply problem and requires qualified TV tech. I hope TV is still under warranty so ask for warranty cover to store.
Thanks.

It's been a while since this post, but I may have had a similar problem with my Hitachi. With no reason it would switching on and off randomly. The problem was with a solder joint on main relay - it was cracked and would not keep the coil powered so i kept flickering on/off. This relay is located on the front of pcb, between high voltage area and the switch and on my tv it is blue. Check all four joints and apply some new solder onto them. Make sure the tv is not connected to mains ;-) Hope this helps

I just had almost the same problem wiht my Sony KDR60XBR1, except TV would turn off about 3-4 times/hr, and always go back on after 30 sec, with standby light flashing. Looked at suggestions here (on FIXya), so tried changing out the lamp as others had done, and to my amazement it worked - no more switching off! And a better picture! So a great, cheap, easy solution to this common problem.

WHEN TV IS SWITCHED ON THERE IS NO PICTURE AND THE STANDBY LIGHT COMES ON FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS AND GOES BACK OFF

The television is protecting itself from what it perceives to be an electrical threat. The problem is that the tv needs a new surge protector or it needs new electrical leads to the tv. Either way will require either a service person to come to your house or you doing it yourself by using our premium chat service.

But before you pay for anything, make sure the tv is reset by removing the plug from the wall for a couple of hours and then plugging it back in.

Thanks,

Ken
