Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

I have an Onyx 15" LCD TV Combi SW1536LD. On switch-on I cannot reselect which mode I wish, in that, the TV defaults to the DVD setting, when I do request TV setting the TV does not recognise the signal from the remote control. I believe the remote control is at fault, but have you recorded faults with this particular model before?

Try to do a hard reset. Unplug it for several hours like 2-3 hours then plug it back in. If that didn't fix the problem, there's an internal component that you need to check on the circuit board like a burned capacitor. Check the fuse and the power supply. If you can't do it, you need to contact a tv repair tech.

We have had two of these tvs break within 2 days of purchase, in our case both times it seems to be a backlight failure. Did you wall mount your tv? If so when you take the base off it leaves a hole in the casing leaving circuitry visible. I think it's very easy to damage the ciruitry.

How do I reset it?

There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

Check for any strucked button/s at front panel of the TV. If all are found OK. try a reset to this set and check. There are two types of reset to TVs. I purchased the Lt37Hvs on Aug31,2006. The DVD player and the TV have always been connected by an HDMI cable. Last night the HDMI stopped working. I pulled the connectors on each end to clean and...

Check to see if the DVD has a setting to change it's Output... ie: Can you select, HDMI, RCA, Component? via the DVD? If so then reselect the correct one, perhaps Component is the "Default" output?

Hey mcca,

In many cases, blue screens on TV's can be the result of the TV being in the wrong video mode or another device (like an attached VCR) being on the wrong station.

First, I would suggest testing to make sure that your TV is in the correct video mode and station. Depending on how many devices are directly connected you to your TV, you may need to cycle through one or two video mode settings using your remote control before the DVD menu can be displayed. Typically this can be done by pressing the "Menu" or "Input" button on most remote controls, but you may wish to refer to your owner's manual for instructions how to do so with your specific model TV. In some cases, the primary video input station is even set to channel 3 or 4 by default.

If you are sure that the TV is on the right input setting (and your DVD player is connected to a VCR), I would next suggest making sure that your VCR is on the right channel. Many VCR's will also require that the channel be set on 3 or 4 in order to display any images being sent through them by a secondary device, like a DVD player or video game console. Additionally, it may even be necessary to change the input setting from "TV" to "VCR" to display signals from an attached device. Again, you would need to refer to your owner's manual documentation for specific instructions.

Lastly, if you use an RF modulator or video signal switch for any devices in your home theater, you may want to make sure that they are on the correct settings.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Tv and dvd combi

There is no switch [TV\DVD] ?
Usually, when u turn off the TV, it should goto DEFAULT, which would be the TV. Do u have an antenna connected to the TV. Some TV go blank [deaf & dumb] when there is no signal to TV. If you cannot get the TV portion on, then I would suggest the u have an electronic switch [DVD is off, it will goto tv] that is shorted in DVD position. Is there a button that has no markings ?[you know, rubbed off by touching it so much]
touch EVERY button two times [one for on, and one for off] except the ON\OFF button !!
