How do you know it is specifically that resistor? I suppose you have schematics or something that is telling you R531 may be an issue. If a resistor is blown it will likely be black or discolored somehow.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Where is the fuse in a xr1220 mixer.

which fuse?? main fuse? output fuses?

if the main fuse has blown & the device simply won't power up, replacing it will merely result in another blown fuse - you need to take it to someone who can repair the units' power supply

output fuses blow when speaker wires are shorted, or speakers fail short - they're on the main circuit board, but seeing you're asking, i'd suggest you don't open the unit, but take it to someone who knows what they're doing

One possibility is that the power-on speaker protection delay is stuck on. The most common cause of this is a shorted transistor in one of the power amplifier channels. In that case, you will need to replace the speaker driver transistors in that channel. I don't have service information on your particular model; it may use power amplifier modules rather than individual transistors.

The tricky part is identifying the amplifier power and speaker output terminals to test for this problem. To find a shorted output transistor, you need to measure the resistance between the output of each channel and the plus, then the minus power supply connections. There is a relay between the amplifier output and each speaker terminal on the back; this relay is turned off by the speaker protection circuit, so you can't measure from the speaker terminals. If you have a fried transistor, one of the tests will show a resistance of a fraction of an ohm. A good transistor will have a very high resistance or read open. This will be the case whether you have modular amplifiers or discrete transistors.

If you see a blown fuse, that is a strong indication that you do have a fried transistor. Sometimes the speaker protector circuit shuts down fast enough to save the fuse, but not always.

Is it known to overheat easily? if so why is this and how can it b sorted

Amps overheat if the impedance is missmatched, if the grounding is not sufficient or if there is an internal component failure. Normally the fuse will blow to stop the amp from damaging itself, unless you are using a fuse which is too high ampage than the factory fuse, then you will be damaging your amp instead. I'd say it could be a blown transistor. If so you will need to open up the amp run a multimeter to check resistance on the transistors if it's close to 0 they are blown. Other signs could be soot on the board and any obvious damage.
