Question about Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer
Calypso's use very little water. The only way to change how much goes in is by the pressure switch located in the console. It tells the machine when to stop filling. A replacment is availible from a local appliance parts provider or online from the manufactures web site. But I can tell you from experience, when you fill one of these machines without a load of laundry inside, it won't even cover the top of the bottom plate. Even with clothes in it, there is still not very much that will go in. More water will be added durring the course of the cycle as the clothes absorb the water (there is less pressure going to the switch and it tells it to fill again). But again, the pressure switch determines how much water goes in. You can access it by removing the 1/4" screws in the back of the console. It is the white circle with the clear tube going to it. Yes, there are 2 that look almost identical. One is for incoming water level and 1 is for recirculation water. The matching part number will be stamped on top of the one you are replacing. Just remove the wire connector, pull the clear tube off, and press the tab while rotating the switch assembly. It will come right out. Instalation is just the reverse.
