My printer Brother laser HL-1850 says paper jamed on tray one. I took out trays the cartridge and still don't see jamed paper. Where is tray one and how do I prevent this from happening anymore?!Please Help asap!
Tray 11 is the large capacity tray at the bottom of the printer. The ultipurpose tray is teh one at teh top designed for manual feeding or tofeed single sheets.
Tray one worked well until recently, when iy reports a jam. I have not been able to find a jam. I called Brothet and their support suggested it may be a defective tray or something wrong with the circuitry. Not much help.
I have downloaded and used both the PCL and Post script drivers on both MAC and a PC computer. The same problem shows up with all divers and computers.

I reported the same problem and decided to check one last time before I scrapped the printer. I pulled out Tray 1 (the bottom (large capacity tray) to really check closely. I discovered that there seemed to be a space between the end of the paper and the printer tray. I simply squeezed the space closed and NOW IT WORKS! I keep kicking myself for being dumb.

Hi James,
Remove the paper from the MP tray.
Remove any jammed paper from in and around the MP tray.
Fan the paper stack, and then put it back in the MP tray.
When loading paper in the MP tray, make sure that the paper stays under the maximum paper height guides (1) on both sides of the tray.
Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start to resume printing.
Still having Problem Then follow Us For Brother Printer Support
Remove the lower paper tray and turn the printer upside down there is a metal or plastic plate usually the jammed paper is underneath this look carefully there is a release mechanism that will allow access to the paper under the plate
You may have to use a true Brother toner cartridge as I have the same problem with me MFC 8500. If I use a compatible cartridge it clicks and if I use a geniune Brothr cartridge it does. Brother direct brought this to my attention.
I believe you have to call you manufacturer and ask if you can purchase the tray separately. They might also give you a company that manufacture's parts of their printer.
Unfortunately I don't have any number about brother but you can visit their website and you might find their number.Their website is www.brother.com
I would try first unplugging the printer, then taking the paper tray out, the toner cartridge out, open the back cover and inside the back cover near the power cord is a blue lever. Try pushing this down as you see if you can remove the jammed paper.
