The F28 is a communication error code.
Remove the front panel. If the flip-top cover to the right of the drain assembly is popped up, then simply pop it back down. This cover holds the wire connectors into the terminals and often pops back up when the machine agitates.

Try to reset the entire board and start all over again. Anytime you fix the machine the machine needs to know that it was worked on and a reset is necessary. Good Luck

What does a steady flashing wash light mean?

pump all the water out and stop the wash cycle your on
open the door
then disconnect the mains supply for 10-15 mins
then turn it back on and hope the software fixes itself
otherwise there is an issue its detecting
like the door interlock is being detected as bad.,..
if the motor isnt running perhaps the motor brushes need replaced and this is the cause of the flashing wash light
and motor not running
i would check out the brushes have atleat 3/4 " on them

I washed a large load in our Whirlpood Duet Washing Machine and it stopped with a flashing F28 code. I unplugged it for 5 minutes and it still will not run a cycle without stopping with a flashing F28...

The error code F28 means one or both of these parts are bad.
Motor Control Unit (8540135)
Microcomputer Machine Control Unit (8540788)
It would be a good idea to order both, as both components have been problematic for error code F28

If you find either the MCU or the CCU(Microcomputer Machine Control Unit) fixed it.

You can download the online repair manual in the below link

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/6545d78b3f479480852571650061b1ba/$FILE/8178558.pdf

On page# 4-20 it shows how to access your MCU.

H F code during wash cycle

the "HF" code is initiated when the water turbine(counter) sees an excess amount of water to fill the machine to the prescribed level- many things can cause this problem, however simply throwing components at the machine will not necessarily fix it. here is what i have run across on at least 3 occasions; the w/l switch tubing(air tube) is supported by a small retainer that establishes the tubes routing toward the side of the machine near the cabinet- if the hose falls out of this retainer,it is allowed to dangle in the danger zone near the spinning pulley/belt- the belt contacts the hose and wears a thin spot in the tube just enough the machine to fill and begin to wash initially, but air escapes slowly and machine goes back into fill mode, eventually the water counter sends feedback to the controller that it has filled with an axcessive amount of water and defaults to the "HF" condition. the cure is simple-replace the rubber tube and secure it along the side of the machine away from the moving components. its certainly worth checking out.

Washing machine will not spin

Hi, If this model has a belt, you might need to replace it. Once the belt gets wet, they are ruined. If the motor runs during the spin cycle and the tub does not turn, it is most likely the belt. If the motor is not running in the spin cycle, we need to look at other causes. If I can assist you further, please get me a model # so I can see exactly what washer you have.

Thanks

Stops during rinse cycle

Dear customer,

We recommend the following when a washer's cycles dont advance..
  1. If the washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer does not advance, the timer probably needs to be replaced
  2. If the timer does not advance while the washer is in a spin cycle, the timer probably needs to be replaced
  3. If the timer does not advance during the rinse cycle, check whether water has filled the tub, if not, it is likely cold water related. Check the cold water supply valve, check the supply hose for kinks, check the filter screen and check the water inlet valve
For details on how to self test these parts plz refer to http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/washer/washer.php
Plz rate this solution.. thank you..

Washer starts fills w/water tumbles clothes for a few min. then stops and flashes f28.

I took the top and bottom panels off the washer, followed the wiring and vacume lines, and found a small hole in the vacume line. I replaced the vacume hose and started washing. Everything is working great.

Whirlpool AWO3761 stuck mid-cycle

The cycle doesn't advanceWhen the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
