You can take the memory card out from Sony Camera, and then connect the memory card to computer with a card reader, you can then download a data recovery software to scan the memory card and recover lost photo and video files Photo Video Recovery Software
YES YOU WILL NEED THE SONY SOFTWARE TO CONNECT YOUR CAM TO YOUR COMPUTER. IF YOU BOUGHT THE SONY NEW, THE SOFTWARE SHOULD HAVE COME WITH THE CAMERA. I BELIEVE SONY CALLS IT THEIR "PICTURE PACKAGE SOFTWARE" AND IT IS USUALLY ON A CD. IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT, TRY GOING TO THE SONY SITE AND SEE IF YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT DIRECT FROM THEM. MOST LIKELY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIND THE NECESSARY SOFTWARE YOU NEED. HOPE THIS HELPS POINT YOU TO THE SOURCE. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, JUST REPLY AND WE'LL WORK ON SOME OTHER IDEAS. IF YOU REPLY, LET ME KNOW YOUR COMPUTER AND ANY PHOTO SOFTWARE PROGRAMS YOU HAVE NOW. OK? GOOD LUCK!
Picture Package Menu Updater [PPMenuUpdateUS.exe]
Picture Package 1.0 to 1.8
Resolved the problem that "Picture Package Menu" cannot be started in the environment that only Macro Media Flash Player Version 8 is installed and Version 7 or previous is not installed. Download the update/fix at http://www.ppackage.com/e/dl_ppk_menu1x.html
I am wrting in regards to my Sony Handycam DCR-HC36. I am having problems with the Picture Package software when I try to load my video. When I try to transfer my videos (from my Handycam) to my Pesonal Computer, the picture package(software) menu does not appear on my PC(The picture package software is already installed).
Everytime I try to click on the Picture Package Icon on my desktop, there is a pop-up that says I "must install Macromedia Flash Player for Application to continue".
I went ahead and installed the Adobe (Macromedia) Flash Player and it still doesn't work when I try to click on the Picture Package Icon. The pop-up still comes up. I also, re-installed some of the requirements for the for the camera to work such as Direct X and Windows Media Player.
The problem is most likely within my PC(maybe I'm missing another type of software???), what do you think are my options in resolving this matter?
Have found the solution to the problem. If you cannot access Picture Package because it says Macromedia Flash needs to be downloaded, and you have already downloaded Flash successfully then the problem is with Picture Package, and it needs to be updated. Go to http://www.ppackage.com/e/index.html and download the most recent update for your version of Picture Package. This solved the problem for me and hopefully will do the same for you!
convert my video images to "PICTURE PACKAGE software" this is for still photos.
If you want video you need a firewire cable and a fire card for your PC.
WinDV is free program that will help as will the info in the link. John
