Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

Open Question

I have a Panasonic Projection TV (2000) model # PT-51D30B I was watching it and it just went black. Is it possible that one of the lamps blew? How hard is to replace one and would they all go out if one blew?

SOURCE: lamp meter on Panasonic PT-40LC12 ?

I just had my picture go out two weeks ago. I took it to a local tv repair shop. They replaced the thermal fuse. I also had a spare lamp so they also replaced that. I'm not sure if they reset the lamp meter but this is what I found surfing around...try at your own risk. I'm going to try this when I go home tonight.

Good Luck...

Press the power button to turn the unit on.
While pressing the Vol-(volume down) button on the projection display,
hold down the PIP button on the remote control at the same time for more
than 5 seconds. When the reset procedure is complete the following message
will appear on the screen. "Lamp time was reset to 0".

SOURCE: Panasonic pt-50lc14 lamp needs replaced.

You will find this very easy. Take the front panel off. It just pops off. Two screws..one on the out side door and one inside the door. You can do it from there. Oh yea put the back of the Tv back together....lmao.

Try the following:
If you need to get into the service menu, you can do so by following these directions:
With power on, hold down VOL minus button on projection display and hold down the PIP or SPLIT button (try both) on the remote simultaneously for more than 5 seconds.
You can also click here to get more instructions if the above do not work. See post # 4.

If you turn on your set and you hear a clicking noise, or a ticking sound. You most likely have a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor (Refered to as a HOT)

I would recommend that you contact a local servicer in your area and see if they can come to your house and diagnose the problem and give you an esimate for the repair. This can be tricky to diagnose and the potential for electrical shock is very high. So I would be careful if you wish to repair it yourself.

I have done this repair before and I think that you should be able to get a servicer to your home and repair the set for somewhere between $350.00 - $450.00 depending on the parts that are needed and the area in which you live.

I hope that this helps you with this issue. If you have any further questions or, if you wish to repair it yourself please post back and I will try to help you as much as I can.

How to reset the hour meter on a panasonic pt-52lcx16

Panasonic Projection TV Lamp Timer Reset
Your lamp will probably last a lot longer than the TV thinks it should. This procedure will reset the lamp timer so you don't have to look at that annoying message every time you turn your tv on. Remember that the "lamp" indicator light on the lower left of the set will stay on until the lamp is actually replaced. I had to buy a replacement lamp to get this information, could not find it anywhere for these model numbers.
Press the volume down button on the projection display and hold down the zero button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. When the reset procedure is complete, a message will display that the lamp timer was reset to zero.
This procedure will work for Panasonic models: PT-52LCX66 , PT-56LCX66 , PT-61LCX66 , PT-52LCX16 , PT-56LCX16 , PT-61LCX16
