RCA Lyra Opal Mc4002A Profiling Requires 4MB free space

When I turn on my son's device, the message I get is 'Profiling requires 4MB free space' then it shuts down ( I assume this means he has put too much stuff on there). I have tried everything from resetting the device to downloading drivers. I can't format (it won't let me, it starts the format and then fails.) I can't delete content (it doesn't show up) and I can't install new drivers as the computer doesn't recognise that the device is connected. What can I do to correct this problem??

My computer doesn't recognize the opal, other than providing the icon. I have tried several ways to download but failed. Does this mp3 need some type of driver? Please help.

I can't seem to get the thing to turn on. My boyfriend has taken it apart and we can't see anything wrong with it.

    Thanks for your help, Eden

Profiling requires 4mb free space

Straiten the end of a paperclip and push it into the reset hole on the back. When you turn it on, it should operate as normal without any data loss.

Profiling requires 4mb free space

Found a small pinhole on the back of the device. In small lettering it says reset. Carefully insert a pin and light push when you feel it's hit a dead end. It resets the issue and you can resume using your device. Leave it up to a girl to find that and figure it out. lol

Opal mp3 1g

Sorry I don't know where the "Profiling requires 4mg of free space" came from. But one thing I do know is that one GB of space should hold up to approx 600-650 songs unless they are WAV files then they take up 30 megabytes per song.

Hope this helps

Mp3 solution

Maybe you have too many songs or videos or pictures or whatever on your system. Go onto your computer, plug it in and delete a few songs/videos/pix whatever. I'm sure you can part with a few. This happens with many players.
