hold the #1 down until it dials your voice mail for you, then listen to messages. push 7 to erase one & push 9 to save one after you listen to them. Phone does not come with voice mail set up already, so if this is a new phone for you, you will have to dial 1 & hold button down until it rings & it will walk you through setting it up
You must have activated the call divert function or maybe your line is currently invalid from your network and so any incoming call is forwarded to voice-mail so your callers can leave you a message pending when you come back on. to solve this, you have to go to settings and then call settings. From here, you must deactivate the divert all calls to voice-mail function. This would enable your calls to come straight to your phone and not to go to voice-mail. If you are having problems doing this, you can call your customer care service and ask them for further assistance. Hope this helped?

If you go to change preferences you should see a voice preferences icon, tap it and you should see a disable voice with a red x over the icon. Just tap it and it should disable all of the voice instructions on the unit.
I say should since it works on my 720 and should on yours.
To fix the problem with the speaker phone you need to go to tools then to voice control the to voice guide if the alert and the reader is on you will need to turn those off. Once those are off your speaker phone will only work when you press the speakerphone button. Also turning those features off will also allow you to use your downloaded ringtones.
If you don't want to waste minutes listening to vm:
Just call your cell phone and let it go to voicemail. When the voicemessage comes up click the pound sign. It will ask you to enter your password, then you can listen to and erase voicemail for free.
I have FiOs and used some of the info I gathered from this page to get my voice mail working now! To set up my voice mail I called my phone number (from the house phone), then pressed * when the automated system picked up...Your prompted to use a 4 digit pass code, which is the last 4 digits of your phone number (worked for me). From there I listened to the prompts and created a new "4 digit pw" as well as a "name password" by the end of the cycle. It then allowed me to listen to the messages on the phone and delete them! Phone finally says ready on it.
