If you have cable and a top of set box , it may be the problem. If you hook the cable direct to the set and still no digital ... then the TV could have a defective digital board. The tuner is on this board and the tuner gets both analog and digital signals.

Make sure your not using spanish audio programming make sure its not muted depending on the tv some tvs have speaker off and the audio would pass through the rca out.. If your using equipment to view tv make sure your audio in is plugged in.. Change channels and see if you have audio than
From the looks of it the tuner seems to be malfunctioning. You are able to get picture through your DVD recorder because the signal is directly fed to the audio/video proecessing circuits , when you connect via the HDMI, Component or RCA ports at the back of the tv. Since this mode of connection also ensures better quality signal I suggest that you continue using it as this problem can only be resolved by replacing the main A/V board on which the tuner is located. The board costs about 100-125$ and is not very hard to replace. So if you wish to replace it, then let me know and I will give you the detailed instructions along with the link to the part. P.S: Bad Rating = No further help.
If your TV is not in Digital it won't give you the tuning option.
Select DTV from the on screen menu, (like scart 1 scart 2 etc). When
you have found DTV select it and then press menu for tuning.
Hope that helps.
Your TV has a dual tuner - one for analogue and one for digital although they are contained on the same tuner board. It's possible that the digital tuner has failed, in which case the tuner board will most likely need to be replaced, but often this problem can be resolved with a "hard" reset. Turn the TV off and unplug it. Remove all the cables from the back, leave it for at least 5 minutes and then re-connect only the cable from the tuner source. i.e aerial/antenna. Make sure you are in Digital TV mode (DTV), then run the channel scan again.
If it works turn the TV off, re-connect all of your other devices and you should be able to resume using the TV as normal.
If this doesn't work, you may need to have the digital tuner replaced. The analogue and digital channel feeds are from the same source. As the analogue channels are working there is no obvious fault with the feed or cables.
Please try this first and then post back for further assistance if needed.
If you have installed a sky magic eye, i am assuming you have taken a sky feed from the RF outlet of the back of the sky box to view sky in another room, if this is the case, this is an analogue feed which you would have to tune in manually to the second tv, this would suggest that you havent lost the digital signal you just have you second tv selected on analogue. On the assumption your system is connected like the following;
Sky box connections
Main aerial input
sky sat input
rf out to second tv
The audio or sound IC (integrated Circuit) on the TV panel maybe bad and need to be replaced. Also, the speakers of the TV may have a weak connection from inside the panel. But my best bet is the first solution i gave. If u are not a qualified electronics technician then take it to a service centre. Joseph Asoh, Abuja, Nigeria
I had the same problem. I could get an analog audio signal but no digitial signal. My problem was with the cable box setting. I have Cox Cable. With the Cable remote I went to settings/settings/Audio out and selected HDMI. Worked like a charm
Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.
