Question about Rockford Fosgate Punch 300S Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Stopped working I have used my punch 300S for 6x9 loudspeakers in my car lately, and it has worked fine. Yesterday I tried it on 2 subwoofers RF punch HE 10" and there is no sound at all. The LED on the amplifier is on, and everything seems to be ok. I have used this amplifier on these subwoofers before without any problem. I have opened the amplifier, and nothing seems to be burned/broken. I did one mistake when connecting the amplifier, I connected ground on the amplifiers + input, but i discovered it before connecting + on the amplifiers ground input. I have also tried an other amplifier, and it works well, so the CDplayer output and signalcable are ok. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

Clarify for me please.... Have you tried connecting this amplifier back on the 6x9's? If so what was the result?

Either your amp is blown which it very well could be. or your just hooking something up wrong in the wiring. make sure ur battery wire and small blue amp wire are secure with a good ground

Received a RF P2002 for Xmas want to install in my PU to power 12 in woofer I can figure out the input do I just connect the woofer to the bridged + and - or is there something I need to do to get thi

this amplifier is a 2 channel 50watts rms per channel and would not really be powerful enough to drive a subwoofer of any substance for car use, however , bridging it would give you 200watt rms into 4 OHMS but your subwoofer would have to be a single 4 OHM voice coil. Best you use this amplifier to drive a pair of speakers.
Hope this helps. let me know if I can further assist you

Were is the fuse located on the punch 300s?

I just read all the information about this amp on crutchfield and never saw anything about a built in fuse or external fuse. I don't think it has one.

Is it possible to hook up 2-6x9 and 2-12in.subs to the 7540a and still pack a nice punch

yes it is however the hookup for it requires something a bit unorthodox

you have 4 outputs (bridgeable)

channel 1 and 2 must be bridged (to lower the ohms) then connected to the 2 6X9 in Parallel..
this must then be set to the high pass frequency (eliminates bass)
lower all the settings as low as possible then turn them up slightly to increase volume to a level where its the hardest and clean sounding..lower volume after

this eliminates the bass and keeps the 6x9 pushing your mid range and high range frequency

now you have 2 channels remaining,, set 3 and 4 to low pass and connect each 12" to an individual channel. (this keeps the bass and ohms high so you will get a clean bass to match with mids and high's. Dont set or bridge for a low bass as it will jam out the 6x9 and your music will sound terrible.

so there u have a simple hookup that will work and keep you sounding clean. remember not to raise the volume on the 6X9 too much as you will blow them..

I have a rockford fosgate punch P325.1 subwoofer mono amp that blows a fuse every time i start the car. I have a second pioneer amp but that works with no problems. How can i fix this?

Is it the correct size fuse ? Is it the power fuse or remote ? Either way check your connections going into the amp . Try this hook your other amp to the set of wires for the rockford if that amp has a problem its a wireing problem if not chances are its an interal problem on the rockford . Hope this helps !

My punch 550.2 amplifier's thermal light is turning on and off

well, hopefully the amplifier was wired correctly. But either way there are so many factors that can cause this problem... But the biggest one is the amplifier must have been sending some distortion to your subwoofers which a subwoofer can take a certain level of distortion and be fine but too much will blow any subwoofer even the highest of high end subs at a high volume... when your subs hit the point of blowing they will tend to just blow out one at a time... they don't just pop both right away. I'd say get the sub that isn't blown off off of the amp before it blows too... distortion is clipping most of the time... when you destroy the subs it will eventually work it's way to the next component in the system which is your amp and then you will be out an amplifier and subs. save yourself the headache.......

Rockford Fosgate p 325.1 amplifier problem

Time to invest in a volt meter. A test light can show voltage and not actually be a 12+ volts.. A capacitor will store energy for yoy but first verify correct voltage.
A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. rockford-fosgate-p-325-1-amplifier-peeu4x5nsxvd53n2rwetiqa4-1-0.jpeg

No power

hi, some car amps need a high current remote supply to turn on. first make sure that you are using the proper gauge b+ and gnd cable for this particular rockford amp. then try switching the remtote turn on to this amp thru a simple Relay.(use the remote supply from your headunit as a trigger for the relay). do these connections without connecting any spks or rca line inputs. once amp is switching on then connect all other cables. OR lastly check the main fuse on the RF amp?? cheers

AMP WON'T WORK POWER SUPPLY?

that big coil of wires ytou described is the transformer for the switching power supply. Sounds like you over heated it and blew out the supply or the output section. From what you described you should take or send this unit into be serviced as there are no user serviceable parts in this unit except a fudse maybe and if thats blown theres more problems as thats there ( the fuse) just so the whole bloody thing dosent burn up your car! Good Luck
