Siemens Gigaset A265 (dual base) telephone instruction manual

I have 2 problems regarding this model telephone:
1) the instruction manual is in French because the phone was bought in France where I live and I would appreciate the manual in English - how can I get one?
2) in the screen is a message which reads "New Message", and to the left of this is a flashing envelope. I understand that this means a voicemail message but I have not set the telephone to take voice mail nor have I instructed my telephone provider to do this. There is no message and I have NO idea how to get rid of the message in the screen.

I had this. Very frustrating. I have the manual in French but it doesn't say how to fix this. The solution I found was very simple. Just press the message button on the handset rather than playing with the base. The button that has a little envelope on it!!
