I have a pre-owned but

I have a pre-owned but mint condition 18K two-tone Cartier Panther watch with the date in the 5'o'clock position. The date currently reads the 18th, but today is the 11th. Is it safe to pull out the stem to stop the watch until the 18th and then push the stem back in to restart the watch on the correct date? I tried trying to advance the date myself but quickly saw that wasn't an efficient method, and also concerned about advancing the hands so many times to get from the 18th all the way around to the 11th.
What do you recommend I do to get the date set correctly?
Thank you very much for your help!!

- Thank you very much "sweet rascal"...that may very well be the case...
I'm only reposting this just in case anyone has any other thoughts.
It would appear that pulling the stem out "stops time (and date)" e.g., if time/date were suspended for 7 days (without harm to watch or battery) until it "becomes" the right (current) date, problem solved.
If no other solution thoughts, I'll advance manually...but may I be reassured that so much stem-turning at one point in time won't hurt the watch either? Many thanks again.

- Hi again...it seems that consensus is for me to manually advance the time hour-by-hour to change the date on my Cartier Panther. That's 3 weeks worth of stem turning but I'm advised to trust that the Cartier quality will be steadfast throughout to arrive at today's current date.
If anyone knows/suggests differently, please let me know, thanks again!!

- SOLVED.  Greetings anyone who tried to help me with this date-setting problem.  I want to pass along what I just learned...   On the Cartier Panther watch, the blue sapphire stem has 2 positions...if you pull it out just a little, you can change JUST THE DATE...if you pull it out all the way to the 2nd position, you can change JUST THE TIME.
So there's the kind of solution I was looking for...so I wouldn't have to turn the stem hour-by-hour for 21 dates to get it to the correct date today.  Thank you FixYa, and merci Cartier, brilliant.

The stem can pulled out on two positions, the first one will change the date by rotating the stem clockwise.
When the stem is in position two, outer one, it will change the time by rotating it.
It is better to put time at eight o clock before changing date, then you put time back to right place

Hi,
Its absolutely safe for you turn the stem in order to change the date which is quite advisable rather than keeping the stem pulled out till 18th..So please dont be scared to test the consistency of Catier product which is much durable!!..hope it helps you..please dont forget to rate the solution..Thank you!!..

- HI Panthergirl,
You can be very much sure that you can turn the Stem manually to advance to change the date which "WILL NOT AFFECT THE STEM OR THE WATCH"..hope you are out of your problem..please dont forget to rate the solution..Thank you!!...

If you pull the 'switch' on the side out a little and then roll it to either direction the pointers should move to that direction same with the date, thats common knowledge on how to adjust a watch is your model faulty or how is this made??

You pull the stem is it? out a little and then roll it to adjust the time. if this doesn't work you have not pulled it far out enough or you have pulled it out too much.

otherwise I think you have a faulty watch in your hands if thats now how to adjust the time.

Jul 11, 2008

- thats not the picture of your watch I know it doesn't have the date, I just pulled it out for a example.

Jul 11, 2008

- You can adjust the time as much as you want, it doesn't harm the watch in any way. unless done in a abusive way.

- Great that you got it solved, do close the thread by accepting one of our solutions.
