How old is it? if it older and the spots are white its bad. they will get worst Sony usually doesn't have this problem. It may be a gun alignment problem. any way it gos its time to call a repair man to see what the problem is.
Windows Mobile will only accept an "alignment tap" if it is within so many pixels of where it expects it to be. You can try to offset your taps based on past experience of how far off the display was registering, but can be difficult to do for the 4 or 5 spots at the same time.
The unit will not go past the alignment screen until it
gets a good calibration alignment. Be sure to click as close to the
little + marks with the stylus as you can. If the click is to far from
where it thinks it should be then the alignment will fail and start
over.
I hope this helps, if not let me know

my imate pdal is stuck on the align screen... as many times times as i tap on the target to align screen on all the four corner, it just comes back to the centre..... the whloe process repeats but just remains there.... any solution.....
sounds like the digitizer is out of alignment. there are places where you can send the device that will replace the screen, or send you parts for DIY projects. Depending on the age/condition of the device, it might be better to just buy a new or used device.
so just do it carefully click between the cross hairs of the plus sign at five points one after another with a pointed object carefully then it will move on to the next screen for further setup ,
but if u r stuck at this point and u are gettin this alignment screen again and again in a loop then my friend its a hardware fault basically it is a faulty digitizer or touch panel u can say the front screen where u click with ur stylus it became faulty u need to replace it other wise it will stuck on this screen alignment process and will not go past, u need hardware replacement it is around 60 to 70 $ cost to replace just take to the service centre in ur area or find it on www.htc.com or tell me if u have somethin else to ask.........pls lemme know if it helps
I have same problem but found a work-around. I have found that 2 SD cards kept in the pockets in the flip over cover of my leather case has caused scuffing to the touch screen and the screen will now not align properly. In the alignmet utility I have to tap the centre of the alignment cross in the middle and 2 top positions and tap about 3mm above the cross in the bottom 2 positions (portrait format). This means of course that the bottom of the screen is out of alignment and I have to tap high at the bottom of the screen but I have got used to it. Not great, I know, but its better than nothing. Well, folks i had the same problem with the damn i-mate K-JAM model but i have figured out its solution. Well screen alignment options will always come on ever reset whether it is hard or normal and further more it would be nail biting for most of us because it doesn't work at all. It seems like some sort of a bug either in Windows Pock PC edition or HTC manufacturing bug. Whatever u call it only we would be the victim of it. Here is the solution.
When the alignment screen comes Just Tag the {+} << in the exact centre it will then move to the top let corner of the screen again tag it from the middle and it will then jump to the lower left corner now don't tag it from the middle instead tag the lower left corner of the screen. It will then move to lower right corner of the screen now tag it again in the middle and finally it will fly to the top right corner now again instead of clicking in the middle just hit the top most right corner of the screen and now u r done. Screen is finally aligned whoops!
Sometimes even when the screen is aligned the touch pad malfunctions if this is the case with you u need to update the firmware like i did just search through Google the i-mate k-jam windows Pocket edition update.
