Re: HP 2420 Issue
Print a configuration page found under the info menu on the printer. Make sure that under options it shows the network card as being an installed otion (it will show enven if its a built-in embedded card) If it doesn't show you have a bad jetdirect card. If it does show make sure the IP address, Subnetmask and Default Gateway listed on the page match that shown on your SERVER & WORKSTATIONS.
If the card info on the config page reads 0000 then you will need to reconfigure the card through the menu.
If you are using a 615N Jetdirect card in the printer and it doesn't list on the config page it's most likely a bad card as they have been dying regularly. If and only if it's a HP 615N card, jump on HP's support chat at HP.com and go through the on-line chat. If your persistent and insist, they will replace the card for free. You will have to be persistent though and tell them to look up the service note that authorizes after warranty replacement. They know it's their but unless your persistent they will play dumb try and charge you. Hope that helps you.

If you don't have HP Print Service Plugin and HP ePrint installed, make sure these two apps are installed. Go into ePrint and see if it 'sees' your network printer when you have WiFi on and you are logged on to the same network segment. If the apps cannot 'see' the printer in their selection menu, none of them will work until the connection issue is resolved. One other thing to try, download any app with network 'ping' function and try to ping your printer by its IP address from your tablet. If you cannot ping the printer from your tablet, you are either not on the same network segment, or there is some other connection issue.
This appears to be a driver issue to me. Not communicating. As long as you can print out a test page from the printer, then the issue is communication. Try uninstalling and reinstalling and or change to a different print port. If networked, try pinging the printer.
To perform a power reset you need to
1. Disconnect all the power cords connected to your printer (i.e the power cord and the USB cable.)
2. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. (this will remove the static energy if any accumulated in the printer.)
3. Connect the cables to the printer.
4. Restart the printer and try printing a page.
Print internal configuration page and check for IP address in printed sheet and try to compare with the driver information Check for LED at network card if it’s on Try to send ping command to IP address to verify connection and if reply is confirm Uninstall driver and reload and try to search the printer with IP or hardware address while loading driver If still any problem it could be network card have problem need to be replaced
I would recommend replacing the JetDirect card in your printer. What model is the card? The 600, 610 and 615 can be replaced with a newer 620. Make note of all of the IP address info before replacing the JetDirect card. If you send more detailed info, I can make sure that I send the correct info that you need.
