I am assuming you mean that it gets Hot ?
If it crashes and is switching off then it may be the fan that is not working. Check that fan is working and give it a clean.
If it is still getting too hot then re paste the CPU Heat Sink (Recomend Arctic Silver 5) if its still getting too hot then your CPU may be on its way to PC Heaven.

Hello
The Acer Desktop normally beeps due to Bad RAM or Bad Graphic card, check these two parts of your system and there are different beep codes to identify problems, click HERE to locate your system's problem by these beep codes if above mentioned solution does not works.

Would someone please tell me if I have a battery problem or a fried suffocated Acer problem? My Acer 4520 was setup on a mattress bed then placed into hibernate mode after an hour. 20 minutes later I heard...

Obviously it's not a battery problem. When you power on Acer, there's some running noise or not ? If there's such noise & just LCD has no sign of life, and you can't even access to Bios, it's just LCD cable connection problem. Often, LCD cable is disconnected from motherboard. It can ba happened very easily on shaking your laptop. It's possible that your hard disk is sick, then your Bios can't ditect its presence;

Acer 5315 not working after I log on!!!

There are a couple of different ways you may have lost your icons. They could have disappeared when you installed a certain program or even when you upgraded to a new operating system.
To enable those icons and more, right click on your desktop and choose Properties. Click on the Desktop tab and hit the Customize Desktop button. Next, under the General tab, check off any of the icons you want to appear on your desktop.
Once you do that, they will all be returned to your desktop in full view. You can choose from the icons of My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places and Internet Explorer. Now, on the other hand, you may want to take some of those icons off your desktop. If that's the case, just uncheck them and they will be out of your way.

My Acer Aspire 5100 will not start up

Check if you have anything loosed in the laptop. Do you think anything was left in the computer loose or was not put together right. Try reseat the memory and maybe the hard druve, dvd rom and see that will change anything.

Hope that can help you. It can be a motherboard issue but I think checking these other things first wont hurt you. You go from the easy to the hardest.
